Is this Jones guy any good?
Oregon starter in a 3-4. One-time Alabama committment. Has played a lot of snaps at Oregon and has been productive. There has been some BB talk that he may switch to OL/OT as he was recruited for that as well out of HS. By all accounts he seems like a good player to add to the AU roster without any downside. There's no need to project him to P5 football because he's already done it at a high level.

We should also pick up the Oregon CB starter too next week. Another guy that has multi years of elgibility.

This. He was lazy in HS and was coasting despite being very talented. Alabama dropped him, but apparently his time at Oregon has really turned him around and Cristobal did a great job re-motivating him. He is huge and can really move, this is a big get for us.

Wonder if they will then move Wright back to OL? At this point we now have two very large good men for the center of a 3-4 and could certainly use someone on the OL.

Oregon (Lanning, new coach) liked him and wanted him to stay. Cristobal offered him out of the portal.

Usually a good sign

FWIW, KN said someone on the Oregon staff told him they think he’s a first rounder

Jones can correct me, but he was high on AU in HS. It was his team. He just didn't like Gus and his offense.

Yes we were his leader for a while. His mom or parents are AU grads if I’m remembering correctly

He also told 247 that he didn’t transfer to Auburn just to be close to home. He said it was because he liked what Auburn and Eason were doing with the DL

M’ba can play the 3 or the 5. I would think Jones is a 3.

So we need Pegues to step up at the 0 and a couple others. Maybe the 0 is where Hunter falls but alway thought he was more of a 3.

Wooden is our 5 that can play the 3 as well. Harris was our 3. Fair was our 0 for those needing to know some of the terminology of the positions.

Correct Corch. Mom is an Auburn grad.

Word was that he didn’t think Auburn’s offense/QB position under Gus was a good fit for him.

That’s the thought Poker. Like I said we where his leader for a couple years even with Gus but after Bo’s “struggles” early I think the negative recruiting got to him.

Idk how good Story is/isn’t. It’s just funny that now everyone has that opinion when he might be leaving.

This was being talked about long before the news broke that he wasn't signing on ESD. I've heard some rumors as to what transpired, but it's pretty telling as to what they think of him that Auburn isn't really interested in holding a spot for him - they simply cut it off with him. If he ends up at UCF, it won't be because he didn't want to sign with Auburn. He was more or less pushed out.

By the way, Bama had zero interest in Story. Like none. They did absolutely want Woodyard in comparison.

They aren't even done recruiting 2022 DL. Not only Woody (who they're tracking academically) but also 4* DL Christen Miller who is expected to pick Georgia, but we are pushing hard for.

I don't think Pegues is a 0. Pegues and M'ba are physical freaks at the 3, & Wooten is also a terminator at the 3 & 5 in this scheme. Then you have Wright and Jones at the 0.

Then Hunter, and the 5 who originally signed with UT. I'd like to see the same on offense and signings, but if this is by design by Harsin I can't complain.

Did Jones play the 3 or the 0 for Oregon seems like a tall dude for the 0.

Metafore reports Wright is back working with the OL as well

I don't believe it. I just looked at our "portal recruiting" . I see nothing about him coming to Auburn. We must have jumped the gun with this.
