Arkansas is a tough first round draw. They’re a top 3 level seed team disguised as a 10 seed.

Talent wise I agree, but performance and resume wise I don't understand why they have been viewed as tourney lock this whole time. Why does the NET like them so much? Even significantly more than KenPom does.

I don't get it either. It's not like their efficiency is that much better and you would think at the end of the season, results would heavily out weight efficiency.
ETA: All in all, Auburn and Arkansas seem evenly matched.

Yeah especially when KenPom has us basically neck and neck in efficiency metrics. They need to release the danged NET formula. Thanks for posting the side by side.

NET way overvalues efficiency

To get into NCAAT, do we have to beat Arkansas?
Do they have to beat us?
MSU and Vandy have to win multiple games?
Will committee job A&M? I mean surely they are a 4 or 5 seed at worst.
Will committee find a way to get UNC in?
Will 8 B12 teams get in?
Will 8 SEC teams get in?

No, we will be in the tournament. BUT I think if we lose there is a small chance we will have to play in the first four so we want to avoid that. Hard to know how the committee sees us. If they see us like Lunardi does we may need to win to avoid the first four, but most others seem to see us as a safe 9 or 10 seed. Several even have us at an 8.

No because of their stupidly high NET rankings they are likely safe regardless.

I think Vandy has to win the tourney. Their standing isn't far off entering the tourney from where A&M was last year. MSU probably needs to beat Florida to be safely in but if they lose could still make it.

I think 5 seems right. A dangerous 5 seed (I'll have them going far)

I think their goose is cooked.

Yes and depends on State. Think that would be an SEC record right?

Who else do we have to play at the 2? KD has been better towards end of conference play. Like him or not, his play will be a key to our success for the rest of the way. If we can get the KD that played at Bama, we will be very tough to out.

Think it’s kinda skewed because Zep gets to play most of his minutes with our best guys out there. +/- can be deceiving and I think in this case it is for Zep vs KD. I don’t feel we are especially better with either on or off the court. KD has been better lately though. Turnovers are down and shooting it a little better

Just saw this on Twitter.
quote:
Kenpom ranking of every 10 seed in the SECT since expansion for 2013 tournament:
98 (2013 Vandy)
86 (2014 Bama)
90 (2015 Tenn)
96 (2016 Bama)
64 (2017 A&M)
66 (2018 LSU)
64 (2019 bama)
97 (2020 Mizz)
95 (2021 UGA)
49 (2022 Miss St)
19 (2023 Ark)
guess which one AU gets to play

Actually less risks. Lose to a 19 seed at a neutral site will not drop us much. Would have been worse to lose to a Florida team off a loss to LSU.
Same goes for victories. A win over Arkie boost your resume.
Prefer a 10-11 seed over a 8-9

Just noticed the Colgate team we absolutely beat the brakes off of in December won their conference and conference tourney. We beat them 93-66. Traore and Westry had 8 points each
