Lost 6-5... assuming bullpen again?

Yeah and some weird errors. I quit watching when it got to 4-3. They may have took out Owen too early. Just same bullshite we have seen all year. We will get smoked tomorrow.
And what the frick happened to Steven Williams? Man he started out hot his frosh year.

Yes. I never like to blame coaching because the players have to ultimately execute, but I question Hudson's pitching choices after Owen was lifted. Bright hasn't had a good outing in a month and he was the first call? IDK why they didn't run Skipper out there again because he only pitched an inning yesterday. My only guess is that they are being careful because he's just back from an oblique injury. Barnett only pitched an inning as well yesterday, and that was a very winnable game.

Hell of a series boys. We really killed it...

These relievers have got to quit issues walks.
Look at our pitchers in the 2nd and 3rd games of all the series we have now lost. Our pitchers are walking way too many guys and eventually, as they say, you're going to get burned and we continue to do so. 18 walks total for games 2 and 3. These pitchers are better than this.
And ofc, our hitting is still inconsistent, and not clutch when we need it.
Why didn't we use skipper again Sat? He seemed to be our most consistent reliever...

A walk an inning. That’s unreal at any level of baseball, much less the collegiate level.

Lost 6-5 last night for those curious

Just absolutely snakebit. We are anti-clutch this year. Its not like AU is getting blasted in these games. Most of them are one run games against top competition. This reminds me of when Renfroe took over for Baird and started out something like 1-8 in SEC play in 2003(?), but then reeled off some sweeps and road series wins to make the NCAA tourney. I hope the oucome is similar.

I always believed you make your own breaks, and this team is trying hard but can't seem to overcome their mistakes.
For example last night, we fight back to tie, then the very next inning(which seems to be a pattern for our relievers), we drop an infield popup bc we can't see it, putting runner at 2b, then an out moves him over, and then the pitcher/catcher throws a WP or a PB, letting the go ahead run score. They bring in their closer and we go down quietly in 2 innings striking out 4 times.
They have to overcome the mental issues they seem to have fallen into. It has to come from them, although some baseball followers are not liking the pitching decisions that Hudson is making...

Totally agree. I'd also say if we had just 75% of the walks we've given up we'd be close to .500 in the SEC.

Owen would get rocked in HS hanging 75 mph curves.

He's not.
If this continues, then Hudson is going back to alumni status, and this Renfroe/Gross approach to hitting might be in the rearview as well. We were more successful under Sisson hunting fastballs.
