Auburn baseball sucks this year. Feel like we have taken a bunch of steps back since precovid

We are missing two weekend SEC starters. AU will be fine once they are back in the rotation. Offensively we're the most productive AU has been since 2010. I forget where I read it, but Butch said he went back over all his games as a HC and his win % is 84% when his teams put up 5 runs or more. We just need Owen and Fitts back in the rotation. Greenhill is injured too, but somehow he goes out there with an 86-88 mph fastball right now and still gets it done. His normal velocity is 92-94.

I get that, but it just tells me that we have no pitching depth whatsoever. The bullpen is a disaster. This looks like a John Pawlowski team right now.

This could be like the 2018 team. I think we started out in the SEC like 4-8 w the first 4 series, then finished at .500 in the SEC.

But right now, they can't seem to win the close ones. Take the game last night. down 4 in the bottom of the 9th they rally and are down 1 w/ only 1 out. This is when you take them out and win the game. But, as in the past we only get 1 more to tie, and force extra innings. And with our relief pitching, we were going to give up more runs. And we did but couldn't answer.

We never seem to get ahead or if we do, it's not by much and then our relief pitching gives the lead up right back....

Tough to see...

Mullins, Skipper and one other bullpen arm are hurt as well. All of which would be pitching these innings we are getting shelled. Any top team in the SEC would suffer if they encountered similar injuries. We'll be fine.

Fine?

By when? How long are these pitchers to be out?

That makes a big difference if you're trying to get into the NCAAs.

- Fitts piched one (?) inning last night, so he's close (injured foot)

- Owen piched on Sunday at Ole Miss, so he's close (dislocated finger). He's piching now actually.

I looked and didn't find any update on Skipper and Mullins, but both are expected back in short order, and neither is considered to be serious or season-ending.

WHat can i say?

Get's behind.

Makes a comeback, ties it up or goes ahead only by 1 run.

Gives the lead right back.

Has a chance to comeback and tie it or win it w runs on and in scoring position.

But continue to lose and can't hit when it counts...

In baseball.. there are ruts that seem forever..and then it turns and things look better, but now we are putting us in a bad position trying to make the NCAAs. :(

Baseball & Softball are a combined 0-11 in conference play thus far.

The SEC is stacked in both sports, so there is some postseason hope. We have to win a few games and finish towards the middle of the conference though.

Amongst the killer B’s in 2021 only Bryan is 0-0 and isn’t disappointing. Butch and Bruce needs to come on already.

We need to see if Mickey Dean's middle name has a B in it. he HAS to be included in this depressing spring sports season. :(

Just sub "NCAAs" for "playoffs"
This team needs to focus on getting to Hoover.

Owen is fully back from injury and back in the rotation, so AU will be starting these three @ Arkansas:

- Greenhill
- Owen
- Gonzales

That's two of three for the starting rotation. Fitts will be available for long relief, so he should be fully back in the rotation next weekend. Also Carson Skipper is back and available (huge), and Barnett is going back to his closers role. Mullins is still out for one more week.

AU wins first game at Arkansas 2-1

Having our injured arms back and everyone back in their pitching roles will make a huge difference moving forward. Greenhill piched 7 innings and gave up one run, Carson Skipper is back in his set-up/late reliever role and pitched the 8th, and Barnett comes in as the closer and piched the 9th for the W. That's what AU would have rolled out all season if not for the injuries. Both Skipper and Barnett should be available again this weekend too.

AU needed to avoid a sweep on the road, but if AU can get another win that would be an incredibly successful weekend.
