Howell
Hilinski

Like the LB and REALLY hope we don't get that QB. We are in the running for too many talented players right now to be taking a guy who will come in 4th on the depth chart. Also when is the last time a situation worked out where an older guy came back to football and was good.. Brandon Weeden was decent in college, but other than that it just doesn't happen much.

we need depth and right now, we dont have it. Stidham is leaving next year, Miller is a JF3 clone, and Gatewood looked meh at Aday. We have Bo. All of our chips are on Bo.

Simmons has a boner for Hilinski’s height. Wouldn’t be surprised to see him #1

Decent?

He threw for nearly 10k yards

I like all the young talent we have coming in too but given the chance to snag an old vet that could sit in the pocket and sling it around without getting rattled I'm all in. Competition breeds excellence so bring him on and lets see who takes over after Stidham.

P.S. how tall is this guy?

Per 2018 DL signee Kayode Oladele, he will no longer enroll at Auburn. Oladele told me he’s still exploring options for this fall and will make a decision in the next few weeks.

His MiLB profile lists him as 6'3 215 (weights usually aren't updated so that part may be up in the air).

Malik has shown exactly what you would want to see out of him up to this point.. He is miles ahead of JF3, Gatewood looked like you would expect a freshman to look and just going by high school film Gatewood is better then cord, Bo today is better than Cord Sandberg and he's still going into his senior year.(going off of his high school film). Cord also hasn't been training for football non stop like all of those guys and has been away from the game for years.. to think he wouldn't be behind all of them is optimistic to say the least imo.

Kind of related to this, but with Oladele out does that open up another spot for this year? In which case I would shut up about taking Sandberg since it wouldn't stop us from getting anyone else.

... add (or figure) in the new transfer rule and no telling how long talent remains hanging around. Just saying it may up the need to have key positions in triplicate.

I graded on a curve because of the defense's he played against lol.

He's older, not really a vet though since he hasn't played in so long. Logically you have to think even if he's really good its going to take a year or so to get used to football again.

What’s the story w Oladele? If it’s grades, it would seem he would have to go Jr college route. Announcement seemed to imply there has been a mutual parting of the esys.

Feels similar to Carlito Gonzales if I'm remembering correctly.

From reading the tea leaves academic redshirt similar to D Purifoy, and we chose to move on... could very well be clearinghouse stuff or other things there that we didn't want to mess with as well.

I don’t see why we would pass. QB is too important not to scoop up whatever talent we can get our hands on
Plus Malik & Joey are rumored to not be progressing as well as we hoped.

I would say Fla and LSU need a QB way more than we do and they are still only offering him as a walk on.. I have to assume he worked out in some form since he's been away from the game and if they still didn't see enough to offer him a full ride that makes me wonder how much they see in him.
FWIW Florida doesn't have room to add him. We supposedly do. Not sure about LSU.

That would be Melvin Ray
For 2 years. Then he went on scholly after he would not count against a yearly 25 limit.

Not sure about his scholarship status. That’s a good question for Ellitor. There may also be something in play where, even though we don’t offer a scholarship, it’s counted toward our 85. Again, probably need E’s help on that.
Under new rules walk ons count against a yearly 25 limit if they play before they have been at the school at least 2 years.

On Cord us offering a full ride means we haven't hit our 25 initial counter limit for 2018 yet which is possible because Carlito isn't counted for 2017 & a 2018 kid counted back to the open spot. Carlito signed w/ AU before new rules went into effect on Aug. 1, 2017 essentially making signees & enrollies both counting against the yearly 25 initial counter limit moving forward.
