Almost every mock draft next year had JS in the first round. Does anyone on here get that feeling you should have when you have that coming back at qb? For me not really which is kinda strange

In the right system with the right coach, he would be awesome. Once he learns how to move around in the pocket without curling up in the corner like a scared little girl, he is going to be very very good.

No your not. He is saying the exact same thing you , me and Randy have been saying. And the same thing a bunch more know but wont admit.

Gus needs a running QB to really be dominate. A Pro style QB is great in the right system. Gus just is not the right system. He needs a Qb with wheels.

I was pissed too but in the end, that goofy bastard was right. It was not the end of the world. Win the SEC Championship against UGA and we would have been in the play offs

According to E, championship win or not, we are in. It was costly in that we lost any margin of error that was possibly available at the end of the season. Gus wasn’t wrong then by saying it wasn’t the end of the world, but we also weren’t disappointed because we were paying him 5 mil to save the world. The expectations drive the contract. He cannot have it both ways. He won’t have home field advantage next year, good luck screwing up one of those early season winnable games before amen corner.

I am going to be 100% honest. I could give two shits how much they pay him or anyone else. Coaches salaries are never mind to any of us. Doesnt affect us one bit. I just dont give a shite

The Washington game is going to be tough. First game of the year and all.

This is the part I disagree with. Is his system better with a running QB? There's an argument for sure. We still made the SEC title game last year though. And I personally think with a healthy KJ and better play from the OT's we would have won the SEC title game and been in the playoff.. basically I'm saying I don't think a pocket QB isn't going to stop us from playing for a SEC title or national title. Injuries, sub par play, and bad play calling could, but the system is still good enough with a pocket QB to get us there imo.

But remember that we did that with the best defense we have had in 14 years. Unlike the offenses with running Qb's. The defense carried us last year in a bunch of games. Not true in 2010 and 2013

No doubt about that, but then that brings up my question about how much of the problems on offense were rust by Stidham and Lindsey just getting here.. Or rather how much better, if at all, do you think Stidham and the offense will look this year? Assuming O-line isn't horrible I'm anticipating a step up for both.

I believe this is where the others are getting tripped up and missing the point of how better we are as a DT QB team. We are able to overcome weaknesses on the line. If you add this nasty defense FSU would have never seen the end zone.

That is, I heard some team played FSU in Pasadena anyway..

It was a combination of all that plus Gus being Gus

Might, maybe, perhaps...

However when using only one other running back at a time...

... things get skewed by removing a RQB from the matrix, he's simply too large a part of the system. Yes, there's sometime two RB's, but it's usually one till near done and finally another situation. Unfortunately in this scenario removing a QB's legs from Gus's playbook not only drastically pares the pages down for the offense, they also become fewer for an opposing to defense to read. Which also increases the likely hood you'll eventually need another seasoned (key word - seasoned) set of legs by the end of a season. And without his trusted RQB's legs this other (replacement) RB has been trusted with even a smaller portion of that already smaller (and now more depleted) playbook. There's been not enough backs with what Gus wants, in order to play, without also having a RBQ to share the load. The system seems to damn near require even the QB's to block, in order to see the field, ok that's probably more snide remark than true, but not too far removed that too few players get trusted to run the ball and why (IMVHO) a RQB is less of a luxury and more of a requirement in Gus's Process.

Probably just need a permanent AU qb discussion thread.

Doesn't matter who we have at qb (outside of Cam putting up the greatest season ever), we are never happy with the position and are going to make hundreds or even thousands of posts every year about who ever it is. No one is ever as popular as the back up qb.

When was the sonic fight with Daniel Cobb string?

QB will always be the most criticized position.

It is what it is.

I thought Jeremy Johnson would be a big time player.

I’m sure I would be awful at QB in Any offense.

I’m slow and small.
Even the worst qb in the history of AU is probably a much better athlete than 95% of people I interact with.
