KN says real close to flipping CB pick on 4* OT Richard Gouraige to AU. Spoke with a source who thinks he doesn't stick with UF and AU the leader. Still a ways to go but looking like AU might be team to beat right now
Also it's many think will be an AU/UNC battle for William Barnes. Says right now UNC probably team to beat but Tigers are making a real push. There's some debate between those on staff about whether should move up his OV date or not but he will visit this month. UF could still be a factor in the end

That’s huge news on Gouraige and Barnes. Does he like the academics of UNC or something? What allure would they have over us otherwise?

Yep...and academics, he's mentioned a lot. Also has built a very long lasting relationship with the UNC staff. That stuff matters.

Derrick Ansley leaving Bama to be DC at Colo St. Lead recruiter for Ross and Quay Walker.

Yes tho rankings will change one last time so hard to say for certain who or how many but some names to watch
Currently committed
4* WR Matthew Hill - #99 (on borderline so not certain he stays in final rankings updates if they jump a few more in over him)
4* QB Joey Gatewood - #108 (could jump into top 100 after strong showing in Orlando)
4* DT Coynis Miller - #147 (don't see it happening but his strong showing in UA Game had a lot of scouts hyping him up. Had decent week of practice too)
So at least one possibly 2 of current commits will be in top 100. My guess is Hill falls just outside while Gatewood jumps in. Miller ends up saying in same area
Top 100 Targets OVing
4* CB Olaijah Griffin - #31 (Tennessee is top school right now but seems pretty open. Will OV in middle of January. Seems to be our best shot at a top ranked CB right now)
4* DB Kelvin Joseph - #37 (Recommitted to LSU this past weekend but still plans to OV. Probably a longshot unless LSU DB coach Corey Raymond leaves which I don't see happening)
4* OL William Barnes - #46 (AU/UNC battle with Tigers probably a close 2nd right now. AU's odds are rising)
4* WR Justyn Ross - #59 (AU probably #3 right now behind CLEM/BAMA. I think he ends up going to CLEM but AU will get OV & he's buddies with Gatewood)
4* LB Quay Walker - #65 (With Ansley leaving Bama that probably seals deal Walker will flip, question is whether it will be AU or UGA. I think Tigers get em but we will see)
4* WR JaMarr Chase - #75 (Looks like LSU lock right now but this kid has been all over place & AU gets OV. He's been known to get serious visit highs so if AU nails could commit out of nowhere. Think he ends up at LSU tho)
4* OT Richard Gouraige - #87 (Chance he falls out of top 100 but I think he stays. UF commit but KN is hearing AU might now be his leader. Sounds like we have a really good shot of flipping)
4* RB Harold Joiner - #124 (Don't think he jumps into top 100 but possibility. He's OVing to AU this weekend & if AU wants him then probably get him)
4* OT Dylan Wonnum - #128 (Had a solid week in Orlando so maybe jumps into top 100 considering how low 247's rankings have him. Probably SCAR lean but will OV to AU this weekend & doesn't seem like a Gamecock lock just yet)
Top 100 Target Might Visit
5* OT Nicholas Petit-Frere - #17 (not a sure thing he visits but AU is recruiting hard. If he visits AU has a shot but I don't see him landing at AU right now(
5* CB Tyson Campbell - #27 (Probably an UGA lock right now but AU pushing hard to get a visit. Teammate Anthony Schwartz recently committed)
I think AU hangs onto Hill but he falls just outside of top 100. I think Gatewood jumps into the back end of top 100. I think AU lands Richard Gouraige & Quay Walker so there's 3 top 100 players there with a good shot at 4 in Barnes. Perfect world is 5 where AU gets a top 100 DB but not sure that will happen right now. Anyway if your friend feels like bitching about recruiting tell him not yet. AU has a chance to sign one of best classes under Gus that could include up to 5 top 100 players but at a minimum will have 2

Big news for AU. KN seems to think this will probably help Clemson more than AU for Ross but says huge help with Walker. That one will probably turn into an AU/UGA battle which has obviously gone swimmingly so far.... FWIW KN says Walker has some close to him pushing him to Athens. Good news for AU is he is close with Big Kat so we will see what happens. I think T-WILL/Big Kat bring Walker to AU

Sounds like all the backup DB targets visiting this weekend. Cam Taylor & Roger McCreary both taking OVs. Also Benjie Franklin will be here. Not sure if Franklin is a take or not but chance he is as staff is high on

KN also just put up an update on 4* WR Matthew Hill. Apparently he's got a family member that really likes Clemson & that their safeties coach is a former HS coach from his area. Also if AU were to land either JaMarr Chase or Justyn Ross that would probably greatly increase chance Hill flips. Clemson would recruit Hill as a WR if they miss on Ross. Says still thinks 70-30 AU right now but long way to go especially with him having someone close hyping up CLEM. AU hoping to get him on campus this weekend
