I think he was talking about Stove.

Ashley's drop is just asinine. Wasn't he the #1 overall player at one point or am I making that up?

He was in the running depending on the service. May have been #1 on one sight.

This is similar to the Nate Craig drop after he committed to us too. At least you could poit to his leg injury as "justification"

Those were not the reasons for Stove's drop. They said he dropped because he didn't fit Malzahn's system. Which is BS, I didn't even realize Stove was injury prone.

I can understand a "Bama bump" with sites saying "If Saban wants him he must be talented." Stupid but fine.

Recruiting rankings based on system fit makes zero sense.

Agreed. It's basically punishing a recruit for his decision to commit to one offense over another while ignoring his on the field capabilities.

Also ignores that Stove could have flipped commitments after the last ranking. Or Gus could get fired and we have a new offense. Or Gus gets NFL gig and we get new offense.

If they want to do a ranking of their expected impact/production, fine. They are ranking the best prospects and that isn't based on future systems

If that's the case than any qb that commits to bama should be rated a 1 star Bc of there system qb handing the ball off and bubble screen left bubble screen right

Clearly I was joking

The logic applies more to people like Saban

Are you saying Calvin Ashley has bad tape and injury prone?

apparently one of the reasons that Ashley has dropped is because he just flat out didn't look good last year when people went to evaluate him. I just wish these sites would be consistent. You're either grading on upside, or you're grading on production.

Most of the upside projections are based on dominant camp performance / athletic measurements at camps.

If Ashley's evals were poor and he didn't show up to camps to demonstrate upside, it is fair that he dropped.

agreed. At this point the only reason he's still a top 50 guy is because he's gigantic. He has to show something on tape and whenever he gets a chance in person. If he's in an All American game, he can't get hurt or any of that kind of crap.

I don't know much about Hand but I wish we had JB for Ashley. The guy could coach an OL, especially run blocking

LINK

2019 Legacy Patrick Nix son, Bo "As a dad that's been through it, it's definitely a privilege and an honor to be going through it with him," Nix said. "Very blessed."

Who is better at this same age: Patrick or Bo?

"There's no doubt, he is," Patrick Nix said. "Now, I say that he is. He's got more ability and that kind of stuff. I'll still toot my own horn. I knew how to win games. I knew how to play and win games. That's the bottom line."

I like Patrick Nix now better than I did back in 1994-95.

I was illogically pissed at Nix back in 1995 because Tot was an idiot and decided to use Stephen Davis less.

Nix has always gotten a ridiculously large amount of hate that I've never understood, he was awesome.

Not sure if this has been posted or not but Lowell Narcisse tore his ACL in his left knee. That's his 2nd one in as many years, being the right knee last season.

Wish we had got Kellen Mond, looked just like the kind of QB that thrives in our offense.
