Horace Spencer will now wait til May to sign. Could be tough to hold on to him.

Yup! He also wants to see the team play this year before signing. He will see things 1 of 3 ways. We are worse than he hoped but sees how much we need him inside and sticks, we are worse than he hoped and decides to go somewhere else, or we surpass his expectations despite having nothing inside and is excited about that.

Free story on Horace per AUR LINK
quote:

Auburn has signed three of its five commitments in the first two days of the early signing period, but the Tigers won't sign either of their other two commitments.

Not in the early period.

Findlay Prep (Henderson, Nev.) four-star power forward Horace Spencer, Auburn's highest-ranked commitment, will wait until May's regular signing period before signing. Elev8 Sports Academy (Delray Beach, Fla.) four-star Trayvon Reed was never expected to sign. The 7-foot-1, 215-pound center will enroll and join the team in December.

Spencer, ranked the No. 61 overall prospect in the 2015 class, isn't having second thoughts about his commitment. He's having patience.

"I'm going to sign in the next period," Spencer said. "I still want to go to Auburn. That hasn't changed, and I don't think it is going to change.

"But I want to watch the team play, watch Coach (Bruce) Pearl and see how he coaches, and not rush into signing right now."

Spencer, 6-foot-8 and 225 pounds, has continued to be heavily recruited by several schools since committing to Auburn in August. UNLV, Oklahoma and South Florida all are trying to sway Spencer from the Tigers.

So far, it's not working.

"I'm looking at and leaning towards Auburn more than any other school," he said. "When I went to Auburn, I loved the school. Everyone is so nice and friendly. The coaching staff is great. I talked to the players and they love it. They love it at Auburn and they love the coaches.

"My mind hasn't changed about Auburn at all, and I don't think it will. My plan is to sign with Auburn in May."

He would join Reed and the three signed commitments: Columbia (Tenn.) State Community College three-star guard T.J. Dunans, Hargrave (Chatham, Va.) four-star forward Danjel Purifoy and Santa Monica (Calif.) four-star guard New Williams. The group is ranked the No. 10 class in the country.

This could just be spin or wishful thinking but I've heard the reason he pushed his decision back was so he wouldn't be in Nevada when he signed. Apparently he is getting a lot of pressure from Findlay Prep founder and UNLV's largest donor Cliff Findlay as well as the coaching staff who are all close to former Findlay HC and current UNLV Asst Coach Todd Simon.

Read the OP which was just updated. Also one analyst called him a sleeper for 2015 in the country not just AU. Also he was outstanding in the AU elite camp in August per reports. He's a good deep ball threat when open which AU will badly need for spacing when KT graduates.

Bryce Brown reminds me of Derek Rose. He's so strong and confident with the ball. Hopefully he doesn't have the injury bug like Rose.

Damn, kid looks good. Love seeing him not afraid to hit the pull up 3.

ETA: Also noticed he has a willingness to sleeve up. Good....good...

Pearl was at Langford's game last night. Langford went for 39 in an overtime win against Johnson.

He's there also for a kid that plays for Johnson that is a freshman. According to Doss, he's the most talented player he's ever coached and is a legit one and done college kid
