Thanks E.

Of our remaining spots available, I'm trying to decide what position on each side of the ball is most important to recruit hard. Thoughts?

Some depth at corner would be nice.

We have done very poorly with CB recruiting over the year as shown by a unbelievable lack of depth. If CDjr, Mincy and White weren't doing so well this year, it would be a clusterfrick.

Just CDjr going down has been horrible

Davis and Jones going down have hurt.

They might both be back for OM but We should have more than 4 quality corners though.

We got Nick Ruffin already committed and if we get depth at Safety they might move Josh Holsey back to corner.

Not having Davis last week wasn't horrible, IMO... Mincy and White played pretty well considering the circumstances. if not for injury, we'd have four corners playing significant snaps... not bad.

Getting Jones back next year and adding Melton should help. I'm not sure how big of a loss Davis will be b/c the dude's never been healthy.

Isn't Jones supposed to be back next week?

247 said he might be.
"Two players that could return this week are cornerbacks Chris Davis and Jonathan Jones. Davis missed the last two games with an ankle injury suffered in the Arkansas State game."

Id say DT. We have 3 Juniors currently and have signed one freshman in the last two classes that is of SEC quality (Adams).

I don't know howiI forgot about dt. That is a shitshow. Very few freshman make a difference at dt like Monty has.

Plus we have signed a bunch of corners. But since Chizik refused to sign any safeties; Ryan Smith in 2010, Florence and maybe Rose (lulz) in 2011, maybe TJ Davis in 2012. We had to put our corners at safety. Whitehead and Hosley are both corners.

Whitehead played himself into safety. I agree with your point, but just a small correction.

I think you're severely underestimating how important CDJr is in run support.

He's our best defensive player, so it's pretty big.

I think therezie is our best, just MO. He's the only one I notice this year.

IMO Whitehead is pretty terrible at Safety. Last year he was bad at pass defense, that has improved this season. But his run fits are awful now. He would be much better at the nickle.

Haven't noticed Whitehead at all this year until his int last week. He was getting beat bad a lot last season. Haven't had to curse at him yet this year lol

Kinda feel the same about Holsey. Other than his int I haven't really noticed him.

Our safety play is very meh

Whitehead and Holsey are both too small and not physical enough to play safety. On the flipside they both are very physical for corners.
Whitehead was a huge bright spot at nickel the last half of 2011 and I've been saying since then that he has the perfect skill-set to cover the slot. Go back and watch the Chic-fil-la bowl, in particular he was VERY disruptive from that position.

Next year give me Holsey and Mincey at 1 & 2, Whitehead playing nickel, with Jones and Ruffin rotating in. That would be our best group of corners since pre-Neiko by a long shot. I would fap for days.

Up to this point he absolutely is the best defender on the field.
