Kennion will be my favourite recruit if he sticks.
Covered in article. I think this is non-premium.:
AUBURN | One month following his impressive camp performance that earned him an offer, and just weeks after a return visit to the Plains, First Coast (Fla.) defensive end Raashed Kennion flipped his commitment from Cincinnati to Auburn on Wednesday.
Raashed Kennion flipped to Auburn on Wednesday.
Kennion is 6-foot-6, 225-pounds, and gave the good news to defensive line coach Rodney Garner.
"I love the program, love the coaches and the people that are there and the whole area. I knew deep down I wanted to go to Auburn," Kennion told AuburnSports.com.
"I love Auburn, my vibe is straight love. When I visited the campus the players showed me love and the people that didn't even know me showed me love. I love the atmosphere and I know the program well."
Kennion said he made his final decision on Tuesday night. He called Garner on Wednesday afternoon.
"I called Coach and said my mother and I just finished talking and I'd love to commit. He said he loves to hear that," Kennion said.
"Coach Garner and I have a great relationship. He kept everything within the lines and was great to me and my family. he told me about the expectations and what I needed to do to play in the SEC. I told him I'm ready."
Garner stressed the need to Kennion for weakside defensive ends and Kennion believes his skills and length are exactly what is needed.
"They need more pass rushers and I feel like I can do that for him," said Kennion. "Coach Garner was talking about putting weight on me and they can alternate me between tackle and end."
Some may wonder, Kennion flipped once, could he do it again?
"This is my spot. Auburn is my spot," said Kennion.
Kenion plans to graduate early and enroll at Auburn in January.

Truit is a good pickup with a good bit of offers correct, but how do we feel about Kennion? At 6'6 225, he has to be a stick for an end.

Strength and conditioning program will fill him out at 6'7" 285.

quote:It'd be sweet to see him fill out that much, but wouldn't he need to be moved to strong-side defensive end if he got that big? He'd obviously lose a step, pass-rushing wise, but it would also help him against the run. And let me be clear, I'm fine with that. Auburn could use a defensive end around the size of Carlos Dunlap. I can't remember the last time we had a defensive end of that size.

Is their any film Kennion? Can't find any highlights on google or hudl. Seems like I've seen some before thought because I remember saying he doesn't hit hard and needs to get better at the point of attack

He will end up around 6'6 255-260 like most DEs. You start losing speed above that weight and Kennion is supposed to be pretty agile
Being soft is something a good coach can coach out of you. Maybe will never be a true headhunter but it isn't the biggest downside. Most of it is just from being unsure and indecisive on where you should be

You make him sound like a scrub. Now I definitely need film to see.

Are we on a commit watch for anybody? Dante Sawyer? Anybody got a camp list?
ETA: Tre' is supposed to be there recruiting. And Sean White is going to try to make it doing the same, though he didn't sound like he'd be able to.

He is going to have to get a lot bigger. He is tall, long limbed, and not very developed or filled out. Doesn't have the broad shoulders or any thickness in his lower body either.
He looks young too. I think the coaches see the height and he probably is quick which showed at camp in shorts and a t-shirt. My guess is they are hoping he continues to fill out a good bit before he even gets on a college strength program. Could be that he grew a lot in the past year and coaches are hoping his weight and build catch up with his height.

They loved his first step and speed. They see him as a big potential that they can build on. Add the weight and muscle, teach better technique and they got what Garner has stated as an impact player.

I'm not questioning. I'm just commenting on his build. I would never claim or think I know 5% of what a coach does who sees a recruit perform in person.
My best guess is he is one of those high risk high reward type players. A guy you take a chance on with his height and speed at the DE position.
Just speculation on my part.

Nah, wasn't knocking him. If it's the film I'm thinking about he was pretty quick and always around the ball but had trouble bringing down the ball carrier. That can easily be fixed though with weight training.

We feel/hope he is going to be Dion Jordan 2.0
This is one skinny 6'6" 260 1st Rounder. I think this could be the winning comparison.

He will definitely be a project play but considering him being an EE and probable RS, he will have almost 2 years to take some juice and build some muscle. I can see him being at a minimum a solid 6'6 245 or so which is what Dion Jordan played at. 30 pounds in 2 years of serious S&C is not unrealistic. A growing athletically gifted kid could potentially see 40+ (naturally)
I do not plan on seeing him play in the next year or two though

Might not be the class for those following the * system. But definitely one to follow for how these coaches evaluate talent and find players for these systems.
The last staff went by the star system, look where that got us. I Would say they were masters of the star game, how the hell did they get Jake Holland ranked a 4star?
I feel these coaches can evaluate talent, especially Ellis Johnson. We all know that he ran that D by himself at USC.
Im not so sure about Gus, based on last stint here. But how much can we really know relative to how much choice he had over Chizik's star gazing....qb recruiting scares me about Gus the most. But how was he to know the Mocha Nightmare would be so awful?
