Exactly, but the way they spin that is his dad is making him remain committed to Auburn to keep his word? From everything I've read about Carl's dad, he would not force him to attend a school he didn't want too just to prove a point.

When a recruit shuts things down with regards to talking to reporters, people take actions and fill in the blanks... for example, the thing with Garner and Carl. Only two guys know the truth on their relationship and neither is talking.
With that said, I still think he ends up at UT... ryan jenkins and thigpen being the main reasons.

Tennessee Source states they would be surprised if Lawson picks Auburn because Garner did not want or like Carl at UGA but is now being forced to play nice because he's a 5 star committed to the Tigers Vols Source feels its Tenn-Clemson battle with Vols edge. Source at Auburn thinks its Auburn or course and last visit will cement things.
So when the Tennessee source says he's going to UT it's credible but when the AU source says he's going to Auburn, he's just being a homer. How does that make sense?

Idk who Ryan Jenkins is but I think I remember Lawson saying he didn't have a relationship with Thigpen at AU. So I don't see that as a big factor.

This is correct.

UTk seems to think that just because they hired Thigpen, they have an in with every AU recruit. Thigpen barely did jack shite this year with recruiting it was all Troop-a-loop
Lawson has said repeatedly that he doesn't know Thig.
Also, Ryan Jenkins has stated he doesn't even know where Carl will end up and he is being quiet about it

Meh...just let it play out. It doesn't sound like Carl even knows where he will go right now, so I don't think anyone pretending they know is doing anything other than guessing and/or hoping.

The guy committed to Auburn?
Until he de-commits, there is no reason to think otherwise.
He is not Dee Liner.

So now that UGA no longer has the guy who "did not want or like" Lawson on their staff, they're recruiting him hard, right?
RIGHT?

Please indulge my ignorance for one minute. Never really thought about this, but when people claim a recruit is going on an OV to sway/influence/steal other recruits for whatever school they're committed to, is this really even possible?
I don't know much about what happens during recruiting visits - I would assume meetings with the coaches, tours, attending basketball games, etc. But recruits are usually hosted by current players. Is there much time where a recruit can really sway others? I would think that would be kind of tricky and if a coaching staff got wind, would ask the recruit to leave.

Yes. They spend a lot of time together. Coaches hope they bond and want to play together. That is why they arrange, or at least attempt to, arrange top flight guys being in town at the same time.

It seems clear he isn't sure about where he will sign.
It is fluid, remember?

Anybody that listens to UTk fans/insiders during recruiting season has no regard for the truth.
They were getting Michael Dyer. They were a lock to get Gabe Wright and Derrick Green. Now they're a lock to get Lawson.
UT folks are the definition of sunshine pumpers. They're getting everybody.

Anyone want to summarize the interview with Carl Lawson Sr. on Rivals?

Carl Lawson update on rivals
he will be making the trip with
Lawson Sr. said that there is a reason that Lawson has not decommitted from AU yet. They are looking to have a final decision Monday and will call the coaching staffs of the schools to inform them of that decision.
Carl is looking for a place where if he didn't decide to play football that would be the school he wanted to go to.

Ten years ago they were getting everybody. Change is hard for some people.

If a player's not openly calling out his loyalty at this point, I don't consider him committed. Lawson and Bower are not Auburn commits. Which explains why new DEs keep showing up as possible visitors.
A player may have committed to the media and to our former coaches. But we have no idea what he's said to our present coaches. Not inclined to trust rumors.
To be clear, I'm not saying I think we're out of it. They may stick with us. Just that their commitment to the former staff means nothing if they haven't reaffirmed it.
