PANCAKED BY A WR

Pretty sure that was their TE wearing #80, but yeah it looked pretty bad haha.

Our defensive line hurt us in the 2nd half. Their upfield push got exploited pretty hard by Boyd to flush up the middle and gash us for runs. How many mobile QBs have we got on the schedule because that could be a big problem...

That's what I saw. Our DL was getting push, Boyd then just stepped past it with no one to stop him (looking at you Holland).

Hopefully Frazier can get better though

He has had more than enough time. 40% cmp is unacceptable imo. He looked flat out bad, his deep balls sailed, his short throws had no zip, he lobbed 2 screens off his back foot. I'm not sure if CSL taught this, but he was taking 3 and 4 step drops while already in the shotgun :Huh?: Our line gave hime plenty of time to pass or escape / throw it away. He looks very uncomfortable. And no i'm not jumping off the KF bandwagon. I was the guy saying that he was legitimately getting a run for his money in fall camp. I think there was some writing on the wall last year when we didn't see him that much and taking so long for him to be named a starter. I don't think it was "coach talk"

Last year they were 14 for 18 on 3rd Down, this year they were 8 for 17. There was an improvement, not a huge one, but it was better than last year.

Actually that is a huge improvement.
My assessment from the dome. Clemson is a good team, their QB was better than our QB, their RB was better than our RB.

KF played well in spots, but he missed a couple of throws, still overall he throws a nice pass and will improve. First game for a sophomore went well. We missed Dismukes on shotgun snaps which bothered KF, when he got a good snap, the timing was better. Missed opportunities in the red zone hurt BOTH teams, but Reed should have caught the pass in the end zone. We missed a back like Dyer, Yeldon, we need Green.

Defense is more fun to watch and improved over last year. They kept us in the game for 3 quarters, but we have a ways to go.

Wish we had played an easier OPENING game with a new QB, new OC and DC. Maybe switch Lamo and Clemson.

We MUST BEAT MSU or it will be a long season. Go into LSU 3-1.

I hate the new kickoff rule

It seemed like we were a better team. We just lack talent on D. There's no way to get around that.

Prosch looked great, Mason will be a very servicable back, nothing flashy last night but grinded out 100 yards rushing while Clemson was stacking the box. Frazier held the ball too long, missed a few throws and didn't look very confident.

This is true.

How do we lack talent? Three top ten classes and not enough talent on defense? Sounds like a coaching or eval problem.

Most of those classes were offense heavy and skewed by some numbers. If we take 4 lineman last year we are probably out of the top ten. Defensive recruiting has been lacking though there enough to keep us solid.

I put my thoughts in a grade your game thread on the rant.

I think if Frazier can figure things out to become serviceable and our LBs can start acting like they play DI not DIII we are going to end up being really solid.

Against a solid Clemson team, we are arguably 1 fumble, one down knee, one Trovon Reed reception away from winning this game.

Considering the HUNH and spread attack Clemson runs with lots of motion, I feel like that hurt BVGs defense especially considering that Holland already had a hard time aligning the D

On offense our run game was pretty solid and will only get better with RD coming back then Avery Young and Greg Robinson getting some in game experience. Frazier just needs to learn how to make reads

Team fricked the duck on this one but still showed promise.

I have seen their RB was better than ours and Tre is a serviceable back in a couple of comments. Tre Mason had 14 carries and averaged 7.6 yds per carry.

WTF over? If he would have had another 12 carries like Ellington Tre would have finished with over 200 yds based on that average. Tre looked great and as our line improves so will his production. Tre has a 1500 yd goal and I believe he could get that. Anyway, I am done discussing last night. The problems and areas to work on have been discussed ad nauseam.

Anybody hear anything on the recruits?

There's talent in the front and back 4, but almost zero at linebacker. I didn't even see Frost last night.

Shouldn't we make a team decision to not respond to any of the obvious flame threads on the rant?
