Trading Acuna is the only play here. We have no one else to trade. Not saying I want him gone but for long term success he can be traded for a lot of talent and I mean a lot.
I think Scherholz is the best GM we've had. I wonder what he would do.

In the last 5 games Jurickson Profar is .857 OPS. Acuna is .503.

Offering him a 10 year extension after this season is the correct move. Trading Acuna is the kind of thing that would drive some fans away for good.

I hope for his sake he hits the market and gets himself paid. He has given plenty to this organization for a massive discount.

On the flip side, he had $125M fully guaranteed before he tore both ACLs. Had he not signed that deal, I believe this past winter would have been his free agent year. What kind of contract would he have gotten coming off of his second ACL tear?
He doesn't hit free agency now until after the 2028 season. If they went to him in November and offered him a 10/$350M deal starting immediately, he would at least have to seriously consider signing it.

He would, but the front office we have now would never offer it.

Do what?
He missed almost 2 full seasons with injuries and still was obviously paid.
BTW,where was he when the Braves won the WS?
He CHOSE to sign the deal pre arbitration and its not exactly a slam dunk for the team when those deals
The deals for Harris and Albies have blown up in their faces and the Riley and Strider deals aren't looking too great as well.

Yes, he chose to play for a discount, as previously mentioned.

This is the worst take I've ever read.

FIFY
Did they sign Albies at a "discount?" Harris? Riley?
All those deals were considered "team friendly" at the time but not so much now.

Why in the world would we trade a guy we owe basically nothing and have under control for 3 more seasons?

I suck at analyzing baseball with all the stats and whatnot

This is the dumbest thing I’ve ever read on TD. Acuna, Olson, Riley, Schwelly, and Strider are the only ones that shouldn’t be moved all other players should be questioned.
Harris has spent a lot of this year as the dead last everyday player in OPS. He needs to be sent down to get whatever is in his head right because he is hitting .299 at pitches in the strike zone

You mean, the ones that didn't leave with Freddie.

Agreed. I could see him considering $350m, but not the 10 yrs.
I doubt he'd sign for less than $50m per. Which means he would sign elsewhere if all things remain the same with Liberty.
He changed agents after signing the first contract. I doubt he considers a team friendly deal again.

I dislike Acuna for his all or zero hustle, but he’s a fan favorite.
MLB as a whole needs to learn to keep the players that everyone associates with their team.

What do you mean by this retarded take? You still mad about a few games when he was a rookie?
He has shown he still has top tier sprint speed this year when he scored from first on a single. He is intentionally not stealing as much and trying not to do certain things that make him have to pivot very quickly since that’s how he tore his acl last time and has already torn it twice.
He will be DH a lot more moving forward even though he does some things in RF sometimes that are just insane
Us kicking the tires on Buxton at the deadline likely was aimed more at the offseason than actually trying to make a legit run at him I expect a big shake up, itll have be done through the lockout. My guess is we pick up Ozzie’s option, especially since we can’t move profar. Eli white if he keep up his current play has likely secured the slot of 4th outfield. I’d imagine we make a big splash at SP, sure up the BP too. One of the catchers will be traded. Baldwin would fetch an insane return but dudes probably the second best hitter on the team currently
Nacho has also been playing 2B when he’s at AAA some they might be eyeing him to replace Ozzie

Albies is one of the worst hitters in baseball currently but yes looking at his career it’s one of the very best deals
I’ve ever seen. We can pick up his option next year for 7.5 million
quote:
Harris
Again has spent much of this year near the bottom in OPS but his underlying numbers were always good, he just needed an approach change since he hits near 300 when he swings at pitches in the zone. It seems he made that change since the AS break he has been fantastic, won NL player of the week, and is one of the best defensive players in baseball.
quote:
Riley
This is the most questionable just due to its length. I’m not very worried about Riley’s ability moving forward but I don’t think we should expect a 35 HR a year guy every season, more like 25-30 if he can get healthy. His ability to stick at 3B long term is maybe not certain either. So this could end up being a slight overpay

Riley has fallen off a mountain over the last two seasons and his OPS has declined every year since he signed his deal. He looks like he is facing an 0-2 count before he even steps in the batter's box. He is having a shitty season even while running an unusually high (.337) BABIP, suggesting he is lucky his numbers aren't a good bit worse.
He has significantly declined since his personal hitting coach got killed in that car wreck last year and he looks like someone who needs a change of scenery.
