I don't know if he officially said that, but that's been the line of thinking for a deadline as far as I can remember though. Different people were putting out the same date at some point from what I recall.

I know he's at Wake Forest, but no thanks. He's not a bad coach, but it'd be an underwhelming hire and there are better options.

Apparently this Campbell thing has some legs because everyone and their brother is hearing it's his to take. I knew we reached out to him but I was told it didn't really go anywhere a few days ago, so either something has changed or people are taking us reaching out and running with it as a done deal.
Who knows. I don't have the best connections to HY, Campbell really could be locked up for all I know.

I am beginning to think Campbell is the football search’s Greg Marshall. I just can’t decide if Kiffin or Fuente or even Norvell is playing the part of K Sampson and the other the part of Musselman.
Hopefully, Kiffin = Musselman.

The pipedream offer that's floating is Matt Rhule, and no I don't have a source that I can share, but it is a upper-middle booster.
I have no hopes this will pan out, but I wouldnt be in any way disappointed.

If Iowa state knows he's wishy washy and possibly only coming for money, then that schools Admins should be rounding up some boosters right now, Gregg Marshall style, and paying him. He's the only guy that's won there basically in my lifetime.
This could end up like basketball.

That’s exactly how I’d guess this will play out. There is just no way that we’re locking up a deal this early and don’t announce it for a week. That’s not how these coaching searches work out at all.

I'd rather have Leach than Kiffin. We'd at least be entertained, and if we are going to hire a loose cannon...I'd prefer one that has actually accomplished something. I never watched TT play until Leach and the Air Raid. Same with WSU of course. Now like many, many others I will watch if WSU is playing. They're my go to team after the Hogs due to Leach. He has his faults, but his teams can beat anybody on any given day. Look at the Rant and Coaching changes board. Leach is the one hire most other teams fan fear the most. And I think he'd want the job and has something to prove. It's not about money for him. He wants the challenge. He'd for sure have asses in the seats and people tuning in. In the end, it's about entertainment and money. You entertain people and the money will flow. The Flagship needs the Pirate. Downvote if you want, but he can win with what we have on campus.

I've always liked watching his teams as well.
There's a section in Barry Switzer's book about his days at Oklahoma and various coaches "holding court" after hours at a local joint (Othello's Restaurant) in Norman. Leach was there.
I'll bet they had some interesting discussions.

I've thought since the start that it was going to be Kiffin. I know Jerry made the comment that its never hurt his hands to write a check or something along those lines. So that tells me that we are aiming above Norvell and Lane. I'd believe Campbell before Rhule.
But at this point I'm not rhuling anything out. Jerry is sick of losing.

Dude, Jerry was saying that about Dak … not our coaching search. The video was a fake and the Rivals reporter chick from SMU fell for it and used it in her feed.

I'll be thrilled if it ends up being Campbell. It would be hard to make a better hire, IMO. If we have to pay ISU 6 million, he's worth it.

I am not convinced because it is shocking.
But I have heard from several now that he is the main one being targeted. If we wind up with Fickell, or the like... I may absolutely lose it.

It wouldn't really shock me personally. I could see them being able to sell him on Arkansas having a much higher ceiling than ISU. Better facilities, bigger recruiting budget, etc.
I've thought all along they could get him.
