If you go by average ticket prices:

Home Games X AVG Ticket Prices X Number of Seats = money made.

Basketball: 19 X $194 X 19,000 = $70M
Football: 7 X $74 X 76,000 = $39.3M

Ticket prices were from seat geek couldn’t find them from university.

There has to be other money factors in there, that I am over looking but everyone says football is the money sport. Is it just the TV contracts?

Assuming my Google search is correct, football houses around 100 more suites than basketball. So I'd think that's a contributing factor as well.

Football and mens basketball are the only profitable sports.

Women's college basketball has more tv viewers than baseball. Baseball has a higher attendance. Both lose money or in the best years break even.

May as well just drop football then if we’re going to make excuses that one does better than the other. Wasn’t long ago we weren’t making the tournament either.

Yeah. But the real question is: “How much does a ticket on the Polar Express cost?”.

Seat Geek prices are mostly reseller prices, that's not good info.

You would need to get the price of season tickets, how many season tickets sold, cost of suites, donation levels, alcohol/concessions sold per game.

Football would still come out on top.

Never said we should drop anything, I’m just saying basketball looks as profitable as football. Less scholarships, rooms on the road etc…

I just found it weird everyone called football the money maker when they are probably pretty even.

I agree. But I would assume it would be closer to even money making wise.

We played six games in Fayetteville this year. Don't we have to split concessions with WMS or something?

Football, and it isn't really close.

Take the donations required for football vs basketball/baseball.

The levels are unbelievable to even get decent parking.

Then the club seats, suites, and heaven seats. Then normal seating as well. It is crazy what football brings in even in a down year with seaston tix holders.

add to that the revenue from television on football vs the rest in Ad revenue alone. Then the jerseys, shirts, shoes, balls, concessions.

It really wouldn't compare imho!

So football is a racket? Requires more in donations, gives a shittier product?

It’s insane what people drop on a season ticket package. Growing up I thought it’d be cool to get tickets.

Financially, I just can’t stomach it. I pick a game or two each year and buy off a friend or online. Sure, different seats each time but all in I’m seeing the games I want for under 500-1000 bucks at the worst.

I did get to be in the touchdown club this year. That was incredible. It’s insane how in the luxury spots it’s more of a networking situation than it is being there to cheer on the team.

As long as that’s a thing the product doesn’t matter.

Yet fans still let sports affect them & distract from their real life. The gladiator games are doing their job.
