I agree with much that you say. But we arent talking about Louisiana Monroe here... we are talking about a Bobby Petrino team who has schemed and coached some of the absolute best offensive sets I have ever seen in my life.

The dude is incredible at offense. It doesn't matter who against.. Add to that the turnovers, and

OK, I will saythis... "Who in the heck was responsible for the 4th and 9 play call?" Unbelievable. but...

That was pure arrogance and disrespect, and we were humbled for it.

That call absolutely blew my mind.

To your point, it’s as if Briles thought there was no way they could stop Rocket so he called a ‘frick you’ dive play and got it shoved up his arse.

Either that or he legitimately lost track of what down it was and thought it was 3rd down.

I sincerely hope this isn't the case. Might as well just slap a Hog polo on Lee Corso and tell him he's late for work at his OC gig if that's what happened.

Briles called up Nutt to get advice on fourth down.

Getting thoroughly outplayed by an FCS team, regardless of what the outcome ends up being.

We spotted them 17 through mistakes and then outscored them 38-10 the rest of the way. No excuse for the first quarter and half of play but, once we got past that, the game played out as it should have all along. I would be willing to bet that, if we don’t have those two fumbles and hand them momentum on a silver platter, we beat them by 30+ easily.

We spotted them 7 pts due to the fumble on our side of the field where our defense couldn't stop them after.

They earned every other pt, which wasn't a complete surprise.

The surprise was that they out gained and out scored us through 3+ quarters.

Well that’s just not true at all. The only quarter they out gained us was the 3rd quarter and that was by 20 yards. We out gained them in the other three quarters and led yardage wise the whole way through. As bad as the first half was, we still out gained them 322-226. We just turned the ball over and let them capitalize. Don’t do that and this game is never even remotely in doubt.

Say what you want about CSP not letting his team overlook anyone…but it appeared like the players straight up overlooked MOST. The offense looked like they were playing at half speed. That was clear to me but looking at Sanders’ two huge runs and the punt return at the end. This dudes just kicked into an extra gear they hadn’t been using all game…almost like they didn’t realize they were losing.
I was at the game. Great job by the fans to make it loud at the end.

Maybe, just maybe, losing Brooks and Fouche to LSU actually wasn’t a good thing? Never understood the people like dchog that said it was The usual kool-aid slurping excuse machines would have spouted the expected "they wouldn't have even started for us!" horseshite. Meanwhile we have guys like Blair, Jayden Johnson, and Hudson Clark getting absolutely abused regularly.
It wasn’t Koop aid slurping when we had catalon and Slusher in the back end. It wasn’t the transfers that killed our secondary it was losing our 2 best safeties to injury

heir defense is supposedly horrible. I assumed they'd score points because it's BMFP and our defense is average at best, but no way to excuse the fact that it was a close game. I expected a 55-24 type game where we were in control the entire time.
if we score the 2 drives we fumble in the first half it’s 52-27. 6 points off your prediction. The game was close because we lost the turnover battle 3-0. Our pass defense is bad. Nothing we can do about injuries but it is what it is. Mississippi state and alabama will throw for 400 or more on us and ole miss will be tougher than it will look on paper. Just gotta hope the offense brings it.

Petrino/Missouri State took Okie State to the wire last year, drive failed at the Okie State 20 yard line with a minute to go, Okie State survived and won by 7 points

(ETA: wouldn't you know it, Okie State had two fumbles and an INT. But in that game, Missouri State ALSO had a turnover, and still played Okie State closer than than they played us)

Okla State then went on to beat Notre Dame in the Fiesta Bowl and finish #7 in the nation

I remember Bobby's chubby little son Nick when he was a walkon for a spring or more here. The most non-athletic kid you've ever seen in a college football uniform, but when he got reps at QB he would pick the defense apart. Nick. Little dumpy Nick. He read the defense with perfection, even back then when he had some personal issues going on.

now he's Missouri State's OC
