To hell with stars, if you can recruit fast linebackers, safeties, and quick athletic defensive ends you will beat most teams. That is clemson's defensive formula and Virginia techs for a long time even when they didn't have top rated defensive recruits they fielded good defenses with this tactic. This is what we should do. Speed kills

This is the exact formula Houston Nutt used while in this league, not because he was a visionary, but because he usually had to value the speed to go along with being undersized at every position on the defensive side of the ball.
So it is possible to find fast linebackers, safeties, and athletic defensive ends.
