I’m not a fan of going for it on 4th down while in field goal range early in games. Seems we rarely made it and the missing out on 3 points seemed to bite us in the arse at the end of games. We have a solid kicker, use him. It’s a kick in the gut to the players to come up empty for no good reason.

Agree with all of that. I think Pittman learned towards the end of the season.

wait just a second ago you said you want to talk numbers. now there's not a right number with what you're calculating?

You know when you’re behind? When one or two scores would win the game? It’s just like blaming Pittman for pulling the reins. That doesn’t mean shite everything up and don’t get first downs so the clock keeps rolling.

so basically any game you lose is on the OC?

I'm going back to my assessment that based on every standard Metric and KPI for an offense we were top half of conference which is a decent offense. This formula that has no right answer isn't a valid way to assess an offense as it has no meaningful targets to achieve.

here's another fun statistic, we were 33rd in the nation in expected points per possession. again indicating our offense was decent.

It’s going to be real awkward when our offense takes a step back next year.

Dan isn't going to run the offense he ran here earlier, it's going to be a modern spread with his own touch on it. Player fit really shouldn't be a massive issue.

should we go ahead and form "Dan needs time to implement his system" and "Dan is a retreat we got for being cheap" camps?

Just counting missed opportunities, baw. Did I imply anything else?

Did I say that? No. So what are you trying to do here? We both know there were many, many opportunities to win the Liberty, LSU, and aTm games that were squandered by the offense. In each of those games, I don’t know how you could honestly expect more from the defense than what we got.

If it blows your skirt up, use that metric. Had we won the Liberty, LSU, and aTm games I would agree that we had a top 25 offense.

I don’t think it is unheard of, having a first year guy at OC. I think we may see a better intermediate game out of KJ, and hopefully see him used more selectively in the run game, so he can stay healthy.

Anyone expecting Dan to put up similar numbers to Briles is stupid. Period. I doubt Dan will run a tempo style offense. Pitt brought him to develop QB's and have the offense be more efficient overall, especially in the red zone and 3rd down. We'll also probably have longer time sustaining drives mixed with a lot of play action, but still have more straight forward play calling and less cutesy/wtf play calling. As long as we are more efficient and have less wasted drives, Dan will have done his job.

I definitely prefer dan's play calling from a risk reward perspective. Candle Brisles always seemed to take the worst opportunities to take big risks. and then was timid when we had opportunities to go for the throat.

I'm curious to see if KJ is able to change up all he's gonna need to in how he plays to do things like intermediate throws and such without turning into an interception machine. Sailing balls high in the middle of the field can be a really bad time. Dan's good at that stuff, it's a shame he didn't get more time with KJ.
