Needs to spend this whole offseason working on his top speed and making sharper, quicker cuts in his routes and he could be a big-time player. He has the hands and size and can catch pretty much anything thrown his way, just needs to work on getting better separation

Top speed matters way less than precision route running when it comes to separation. Although great top end speed can't be coached

Seems like a weird take unless he wants to backup. By all accounts he is not a good passer at all but a solid runner. If you can't pass in the MWC though...

This season, Green has thrown for 1,752 yards, 11 touchdowns, and nine interceptions with a 66 QBR.

In his latest performance in the Mountain West Championship, he sliced and diced the UNLV defense, throwing for 226 yards on only 12 completions.

KJ had a 52 QBR.

Maybe KJ is going to stay? Give him a year behind KJ under Petrino and he might mold him in to something legit.

He reminds me of a better version of Hornsby, just not as thin. If we can get the freshman version of him he’d be a nice addition but his erratic throwing is definitely concerning.

Seems like Petrino has favored mobile QBs ever since Lamar. Just hope he didn’t spoil him into constantly looking for the next one.

Before Lamar. He went to the Falcons specifically to coach Vick and then recruited Brandon Mitchell and Jacoby Walker here. He’s been enamored with dual threat QBs for awhile now.

I think a guy who can move and takes check downs is probably who he wants.

Brandon Allen would have been good in his system. Not great as he isn’t an elite runner by any means.

He wants a Tyler Wilson who takes all the short yardage keeps the chains moving no matter what, but if trapped he can take off and get it with feet.

KJ isn’t that. KJ isn’t accurate enough for any of that. I also don’t think he works at it at all, he can say I work in silence and all that bullshite, but if he put the least amount of actual work into it, he wouldn’t be throwing it at everyone’s feet, behind them or 10 feet high on the outs the past 3 years.

Listening to defenders break down why Brady was great isn’t because he could hit the deep ball, it’s because he was always prepared and took the mid routes, even when the bombs were open, so you forget about a bomb and then he takes you for it.

Was a podcast with about 4 defensive backs talking about why they hated Brady, said he made you be perfect on every play. That’s what Petrino wants in a QB, but he limits their exposure. Doesn’t over complicate it for them. Just this is your read, and adds them more and more as time and trust is built.

I’ve never understood why we don’t have our QBs more mobile. KJ should be dropping back to read the field then taking off straight up the middle. If we added that threat then it would open up the pass. Instead he drops back and it collapses on him.

Would be nice if KJ could read, if he wants to keep pretending his a great QB, he should transfer to a Briles style offense.

Just saying after a read gtfo instead of letting it crash. Could be applied to any qb and a lot of programs. KJ being pretty big it would pay off more than a twig qb.

Any updates on Sluka? I liked him a little better than Green

Green officially committed a few minutes ago, so Sluka is presumably out.

Do we think this means KJ is definitely gone?

Would also have to assume we keep Criswell since he can't transfer again without sitting a year, but Singleton is also probably gone. Which is a shame because I think Singleton could be a special QB, seems to have the size and running ability of KJ with better raw accuracy out of HS.

The QB room will probably remain in flux for awhile as Petrino figures out if the QB’s on roster are a fit or not

If he comes back he will have to be ready for a QB battle because it's not that clear cut between him and Green

The only reason he hasn’t announced yet is his NIL contracts
