throwing thoughts against the wall

The top-rated defense in America is run by Ryan Walters at Illinois. His #1 mentor was at Mizzou with Barry Odom.

What am I getting at there? I don't know.

Pittboss worked for Butch Davis at UNC. What about Butch as a senior defensive consultant, like LSU did with the legendary John Robinson? Does Butch still live in Miami? John Tyson would pay for his hotel in downtown Fayetteville. I'll volunteer to pay for three Butch Davis happy hours as long as I get to sit by him and talk football.

our pass defense is actually "up" to 105th in the nation, so we've actually made progress

Getting a front 6/7 assistant off the Georgia staff is not going to help our imbalance in the secondary

Seriously this...what if Alabama fires Pete Golding? Barry goes to "head coach of the defense" and we hire Golding for fricking DC. I'm down with it. Through all the shite Golding gets from dipshit Gump fan idiots, he's got the 16th ranked defense in America. I know it's Bama talent, but no one here can say they'd have a better outcome for us to move forward with.

Virtually all of Illinois division opponents are offensively inept and that's putting it midly so I would hold off on their defensive performance until future notice.

5 DBs and one DL were out for the game Saturday, another DB would be out this Saturday if the game were played being a total of 6 DBs or the almost the entire 2 deep of the depth chart.

There are only a couple of schools who can stockpile talent on the defensive side of the ball to overcome something like that and even they would have a drop off on that side of the ball.

Odom has a bye week to figure something out.

Taurean Carter (knee in spring), Jalen Catalon (shoulder) and LaDarrius Bishop (knee in fall) are out for the season.

Slusher, Khari Johnson and Jayden Johnson didn't travel to Provo because injuries.

CB Malik Chavis left in the 1Q of the BYU game and did not return.

We won with our depth being: McGlothern at CB, Brini at S, Clark moving back to CB from S, Blair having to play S because no other options with Trent Gordon playing NB.

We need to hit the portal hard for defensive backs, and add a couple of freshmen to develop.

Who was the Michigan kid who couldn't sign with Arkansas due to some kind of legal/pregnancy situation (depending on the rumors you heard) our of HS.

I think he was our highest rated recruit at one point.

I would assume he would be a damn good pickup out of the portal if he had to go to some lower level school while his issues played out.

I would be willing to give Odom some slack considering the unexpected amount of injuries on defense.

Firing him isn't going to solve anything, the new DC will inherit the same problems then that person gets fired and the bitching will continue.

Sam isn't going to fire him in his third year of a major rebuild.

Drew Sanders is unequivocally the MVP of this Razorback team.

Our defense is bad as is, but we would be so so so so much worse if we didn’t have him.

We haven’t had a linebacker like him in a long long time, if ever. He can pass rush, cover, play sideline to sideline, and hit like a MFer.

If he gets hurt then you have a true freshman taking his spot.

I heard that and it could be false is that Pool has been playing with an injury where Sam admitted he did.

Not sure there is a coach that can get kids that were planned to redshirt and converted WRs to cover SEC talented passing attacks,

Our coaches are fine….better than we’ve had in 20 years probably.

PS….I predict M’bake becomes an all American safety.

If we had secondary depth, I 100% believe we’d still be saying give Odom all the money and lifetime contract
