1. He is missing his best rb, wr and cb
2. Pittman was in fact a lazy recruiter which is why we have no tackles
3.he has done a great job of locking the state up
4. I'll give you that he didn't know what he was getting into, hut he gets it now. Look at the athletes we are playing now. At the end of the day that's all that matters
5. The defense is improving. Our secondary next year should be unreal
This year to me was lost when rw3 went down and I got blasted for it then but u don't replace that type of production on the fly
I'd give him one more year.

I keep switching back and forth, but, as of now, I agree with another year.

There is a case to be made, but it isn't good enough.

And I really like our team next year. I don't want to waste it learning a new system
If bert can go out and gt an all world o line coach I have no issue with him staying a year

I say give him another year, because they're going to give him another year, and it's easier just to come to grips with that now.

This would be my rebuttal to those points:
Injuries are always going to happen. RW3 was fantastic, but Bret touted the guy behind him the most complete back he's ever recruited. If there's a plug-and-play position in Bret's offense, it is RB. He's replaced great player after great player there over the years and they always produce. Losing Pulley hurt, but he was replaced by possibly the most talented freshman CB in the league so it's not like we have scrubs there. JCorn wasn't looking so great either before he went down, but I'm sure that would have changed.
I agree with this. Our OL coach, whoever he was, was gonna be screwed these last two years.
That's great for the 1 or 2 top guys it produces a year...but I really think we need to look heavily outside the state for talent (which he does). The recruiting game is different now than it once was.
You still have to get the results. Just because he knows what he's into now doesn't necessarily mean he knows how to get himself out of the hole. I've been hearing "he gets it now" since year 2.
I agree with this right now. But we'll really see where they are in the next couple of weeks. We still don't get pressure and, without a philosophy change, I don't see us getting pressure out of anybody on our roster. No secondary is going to play well against top tier teams without some semblance of a pass rush.

I think Cole Kelley is legit but he would be best working out of a power spread system.
He doesn't need to be running a ton of slow developing play action passes.
ADD: Two plays that need to be banished to hell are the short-side toss (the sideline is an extra defender-dumb) and play action passes on 3rd and long (EVERYONE knows we are passing it..... line up in gun and run the play).

I'd rather take the chance with a new system than the guaranteed two losses before October that we'll have with Bert. We very well may have three before October next year. Colorado State reminds me a lot of the Rutgers road game fatty's first year. I think a good coach could come in and win with the talent on this roster. Why would anyone want to waste the final year of Sosa's career with Bert? Why would you want to waste Cole Kelly's career with 7 win max Bert?

I'm sure that you are aware of this, but there's a trickle down effect on injuries like these, just like when you lose your best reliever in baseball.

The best excuse for Bert is that his buyout

The ONLY reason to keep Bielema is if none of the potential coaching targets will be available.

I think he gets atleast 1 more year as long as he wins an sec game.
Posted on 10/10/17 at 6:41 pm to oklahogjr
I think it's over for him regardless this year. He has lost the team and the fan base.

Yeah I would be surprised to see him next year too.

The main reason is #2. Pittman screwed us over like no one would believe, imo.

Here's where your reasoning is flawed. Next season, we still won't have an OL, defense will still suck, and our special teams will be the worst in the SEC. New season, same results.
And it's hard for me to blame Pittman for the lousy OL recruiting. Bert's the boss. He should have been on top of that.
Bert is over matched in the SEC. He needs to go.
