Coby Boulware, started 54 games for TCU as a true freshman, and exceeded expectations as one of the better bats in the lineup. He hit .278 for the season and led the team with 24 stolen bases.
He made Collegiate Baseball's Freshman All-American team. He will have to redshirt in 2019 and play in 2020.

I will happily take it!

I wonder why he transferred? TCU has had a pretty good baseball team from what I remember.

Sounds good- is this normal for baseball players? Just curious- I mean he's not coming from North East Lullaby Jones University of Swamp Louisiana or something of the sort.

Yes, it is. The Hogs also have another former TCU player in Zach Plunkett.

And former Hogs Bryce Bonnin and Easton Murrell transferred to Texas Tech.

It always happens.

It feels good to be one of the schools that can just snatch whoever in a sport for once. I could get used to this.

Really liked this kid. Guess he just didn't mesh with DVH.

Me too.

From what I read, we wanted him to be a bullpen arm and he was adamant on being a starter.

So instead of burning his SO year out of the bullpen unhappy, he chose to leave and use his redshirt year to go somewhere that viewed him as a starter.

I assumed that he would get a chance to start on Sundays

Dave and Wes told him his role and how they viewed as a bullpen arm not starter.

Didn’t help his stock when he got a shoulder injury playing short Cape Cod season.

We’ve had plenty of guys evolve from bullpen roles to starters eventually though. I don’t think the coaches originally intended Murphy to be a starter but he was too good not to.
