A state senator has placed a hold on the University of Arkansas’ budget to be considered in next year’s legislative session and says he will introduce an amendment that would cut funding to the university by the amount spent on the women’s basketball team after six players knelt during the playing of the national anthem Thursday.

Jimmy Dykes doubled down on this the other day saying that anyone that knows him knows his stance on this and his stance on supporting the military, the police and the country.

So what that really means is I don't agree with the protest but I don't have any control over my locker room and my players don't respect me because I'm not really a coach I'm just a pretend basketball guy that can speak in a pattern that is pleasing to listen to.

On the other side, CMA, who is black, the majority of his staff is black, the majority of his team is black explained to his team why you do not do what the women's team did citing his father being in the military and for that reason he wasn't going to allow his team to be that disrespectful. Paraphrasing.

It isn't about the right to do so as the knowing you are pissing people off and not caring while doing so...

One of the girls that kneeled is the daughter of a long time NBA player.

Can't tell me that she's had a life of discrimination.

The last person associated with the university who truly experienced discrimination was Nolan, he is from the last generation who experienced discrimination in this country on a daily basis.

Dykes could easily ask him to come in and talk with his team about the issue.

Only one problem, Dykes is a follower and not a leader like Mike

I think all of us sympathize with Nolan and respect his battle and how his experiences shaped his personality and made him a bit of a cuss.

A lot has changed in this country in just the past 30 years. Much of the old ways of thinking has died off and those that lived through segregation and were a cause of it are gone. A more accepting society is one that the white majority has made efforts to lead us into yet the descendants of those that actually lived through discrimination want to have no part of this progressive accepting society.

It's complete nuts.

So they are cutting funding from the school but athletics doesn't use state money or university money. I don't see the point. Will this somehow affect the women's team?

Illegal, and will be removed soon. Literally a PR stunt to claim fake outrage over a made up narrative. The intelligence level on this issue is low. They are protesting the fact that African Americans and minorities are still discriminated and are killed by police in significantly higher proportions. Goodness, is math that hard to understand?

Apparently math and statistics are hard to understand or the wording "significantly higher proportions" would never be used because it isn't true.
