I posted this on the rant, but seeing so many people apathetic towards football who feel like we will never be able to compete again I think this needs to be said and remembered, the past decade was unequivocally the worst ever in Arkansas football history, and that is at the feet of Jeff long, John L smith, Bret Bielema, and chad Morris. Bert and chad were our two worst coaches ever, and number 3 was John L smith. Before John L smith our worst football season ever was when we went 4-6 way back in the day and that was the only time we’d only won 4 games, until John L. Then bert beat that prestigous record twice, his first and last year’s respectively, by only winning 3 games. Then chad said hold my dildo by going a marvelous 2-10 back to back seasons. By far our worst stretch ever. And then a career O line coach comes in, who let’s be honest, isn’t the next coming of Vince Lombardi but he’s at least fricking competent, and he immediately wins more games than chad did in a shortened all sec schedule and then wins 2 bowl games back to back.

It’s a good way to kill time between before basketball season, no doubt

Everybody got mad at me last year for saying this but I still am waiting to see how Sam is any different than Bielema. I’m no Bielema apologist but it definitely feels like throwing him in with Morris is just a coping mechanism

sam hasn’t had a 3-9 season yet. Bert had 2. And as bad as the liberty loss was, I think Rutgers and Toledo were worse. Liberty was about on par with Texas tech for me.

He’s not dependent on alcohol
He’s a better recruiter
He’s better thought of in coaching circles
His hires have produced better results, and even so isn’t afraid to make changes.

No Liberty wasn't a power 5 loss, I would put them on par with Toledo loss.

Another difference is Bert ran his mouth in his first season, saying he had a better record in the Big 10 than Saban.

When he lost 9 straight games, he shut the hell up.

Sam keeps a low profile because he doesn't have the same level of coaching experience and he knows that he is over his head but tries anyway.

liberty was a top 25 team when we played them, the year before and would’ve continued to be if freeze hadn’t made it known midway through the season he was leaving. You really think P5 means shite nowadays? You think Rutgers is better than Tulane last year? How about Colorado over Cincinnati? Gimme a break Liberty was a solid team the past 3 years.

Again, not a Bielema sunshine pumper but he had a 3-9 season and a 4-8 season. Not two 3 win seasons. Though the 4 win season wasn’t exactly lighting the world on fire

I think I mostly agree with this but it’s still too early to say with certainty

It's hard for me to be too critical of Sam because he brought us back from the abyss and gave the program stability. The job is unquestionably in a better spot than when we fired Chad

It doesn't matter if Liberty was top 25 team or not, Arkansas was a 14 point favorite and lost to them at HOME. Those type of losses will get your seat warm real fast.

No reason or an excuse can be made for that terrible loss.

Saban lost to Louisiana Monroe in his first season and Bama fans jumped on his arse. Coach O lost to Troy and LSU fans jumped on his arse.

SEC teams do occasionally lose to teams like Liberty but more often than not those coaches don't last long. If you are an SEC team trying to compete for SEC or national titles and lose to those shitty teams then well it can keep you from going to a playoff.

It also needs to be that our best decade was before most of us were born.

What’s the question? You couldn’t see a difference between Bert and Pittman so I provided examples of how they’re different.

My opinion of statements like yours is that you can actually see the differences without being told. Fans such as yourself that say Pittman is Bert 2.0 see vague similarities and because you want more success yesterday, saying Pittman is Bert 2.0 is a lazy oversimplification to excuse your impatience.

your right was it the last season he went 3-9 or the first I can’t remember. And I remember he almost lost to coastal Carolina which felt like a loss

agreed if he does it again he should be gone imo but he’s still better up to this point than Bielema imo

Due to our state's relative lack of SEC level recruits, and uphill battles for top level out of state recruits, I feel we will perpetually have a lack of quality depth needed to contend for the conference championship every year.
My hopes are to be competitive against the top teams in the conference (and occasionally win), and rise to the top of the mid pack of Ole Miss, MSU, Missouri, Auburn and such.
Once in a while, everything will align and we will have a magical season.
