Arkansas struggled a bit more against them 45-3 back in 2021 and that team went 8-4.

Where is the pretty part of Oklahoma?
The now entering Arkansas, Texas, Kansas, Missouri, New Mexico, and Colorado signs?

Mallett did a better job hiding the ball on the PA.
Mallett was a damn wizard at hiding the ball. That PA wheel route was absolute money.

That’s because he wore that awkward flak jacket that made him look like a tall second trimester pregnant lady. He had more to hide it behind.

UCF fans have already given up on KJ

KJ has never fixed his issues. He had problems throwing a quick out when he got on campus and he never learned to fix it. 50 yard bomb no problem, 10 yard slant and that ball could go anywhere.
I do wish him the best of luck but he hasn't been very coachable. The fans at UCF are going to make him miserable I fear.
Green had accuracy issues early (hopefully just first game jitters) and we need to work on that. Otherwise this was a very workmanlike beat down of a vastly inferior team. And that is a good thing. In the past we've found ourselves in dog fights with those sort of squads.

Yeah we never saw KJ go through progressions consistently. I always thought his throwing motion and release was incredibly slow, and that will always limit what he's capable of. You basically need to give him 1 read, and a checkdown, with the option to run.
Briles deserves more credit for making KJ work. A lot of the trick plays that people complain about were because of how much KJ limited the offense IMO. He had to keep defenses off guard in some way or else it was just going to be cover Burks, spy KJ and shut us out.
A lot of KJ's flaws could be forgiven for a college QB. We could sit here and pick apart Matt Jones' flaws all day, for example. The difference is KJ also happened to be a pretty shitty team leader who everyone on the team was ready to quit on.

Can't believe he left Arkansas as the all time leading passer. It shows historically how weak Arkansas has been in the passing game.

It's a deceptive stat, IMO. How many games did he get to play, while he was at Arkansas, vs. his predecessors?

I'm gonna take the blowout win and smile. Next week will tell us a lot more about this team.
Personally I think they look the part much better than a year ago. I think every single position on the field is better than a year ago.... except maybe LB and I would say that's a wash.... you lose a dude but I think the depth is better overall.
I stll think this is a 6-9 win team but I like the pieces better after seeing them on the hoof. Definitely much more of a team vibe....
KJ definitely addition by subtraction. Green is a much better leader.

Jones, by all accounts, was happy to sleep walk his way through practice and looked (and might have been) stoned from time to time on the sideline... but the guy would crawl through burning gasoline to win a game. He might not have had the skills or have been surrounded by the talent to win some of those games, but Jones would, reliably, try.
KJ had a noted tendency to just give up on a game after a bad quarter. One of the major flaws for Enos his second time around as OC was that he never grasped that you basically need to hire someone to be KJ's personal cheer leader to keep him engaged in the game. It sounds petty, but its part of player management.

Jones had a shoulder injury in high school that limited his arm and also was anchored by a dinosaur offense. He wasn't developed like he should have been.

I'm encouraged by the lack of screw ups on the field, dumb arse penalties, and a cohesive offense.
Don't know how the season will play out or what record we end with, but it won't be because of head-scratching coaching decisions or not being prepared.
This. Wasn't it nice to see a competent offense, without multiple delay of game penalties, procedure penalties, and illegal formation penalties? Did we have a delay of game penalty at all? Whether we can move the ball against SEC defenses is yet to be seen, but at least we know we won't be killing ourselves with stupid shite.
Adios, Mr. Briles!

Pretty much a function of him being a three-year starter. If Mallett or Wilson were three-year starters, then it wouldn't even be close.

How about calling a time out before half to work on a two minute drill? Or letting the backup QBs throw the ball? We had purpose behind action, which draws a stark difference from not knowing what to do.

Of course. I could tell by the relatively fewer false starts, procedure penalties, and delay of game penalties. I'll admit, I thought Enos would be exponentially better than he was. As bad as he was, he was still a vast improvement over Briles.

Also looked like our backup QB got enough time and attention from the OC to be something more than a bumblefrick liability, should we need him to step in. Also nice to see us use the QB sparingly in the run game, instead of using him as a battering ram to beat down the D line and linebackers.
