Sumrall is 0-6 against ranked teams which automatically disqualifies him in some eyes.
Well him or Silverfield (one of the two) needs to be the next head coach. At this point, I don't give a damn which, but either would be an improvement.
This process is really not that difficult.

I’m with you 100%. I still want him bc I think maybe he still has the fire. He wants to fix it. If he can get a strong as DC (side question: what’s Charlie Strong doing these days?) I think he can. But he has to let the DC focus on defense as much as he focuses on offense.
Still, I think it’s insurmountable for BP at this point. Fans always want the next Saban, or more recently the next Cignetti. And those are just absolute luck to fall into. Maybe 1 in 100 coaches will make it work.

No. Actually, our fans always want someone from the past like Bobby Petrino or Rhett Lashlee (or from searches ago - Butch Davis).
It's time to actually look forward for once.

Why? He got lucky with picking a generational player, and this year isn’t looking good for him.

Fine but we have to play 5-6 a year so let’s not do that.

Gotta hire somebody. Would rather hire someone with P4 HC experience(winning) than somebody like Sumrall who has middle of the road stats in the American.

Bobby is and has been washed for pert near a decade! Let the dead die! It's time to finally put the past to bed and move to the future.

I’m resigned to this:
It’s not the coach. It’s the entire program.
It’s not the coach. It’s the entire program.

My issue with silver field is he’s the 3rd Memphis coach in a row who was a can’t miss hire, and the last 2 didn’t pan out once they made the jump to P5 (Fuentes, norvell).

Again, any coach you “look forward” on has maybe 1% chance of being successful, if you’re lucky. Remember Chad Morris? Yeah he was the next big thing. Most up and comer hires are gonna turn out just like that

What about Jerry kill? Vandy was shite before he got there and brought pavia with him. He also recruited Mike Washington to New Mexico State who’s currently doing great things for us and star Thomas, one of the running backs at Tennessee. So he clearly has an eye for overlooked talent. Either that or he’s a helluva player developer. Probably wouldn’t break the bank either.

Vandy fixed their problems by lowering their academic standards and pumping their NIL. Put him at the old Vandy and he’d be just another Vandy coach.

Yea…Vandy’s turnaround is more than just the same students who happen to play football and an extraordinary staff…They committed to making their program better while also having a decent staff. Their expansion also looks nice since finished btw.

Yep. 79-62 is Fuente & Norvell’s record post Memphis.

We don’t play 5-6 top 10 teams every year.
This season we’ve played two in conference, aTm and Ole Miss. those are likely the only two top 10 teams we have in league play this season.
If you’re referencing Franklin…teams ranked #11- #25 he has a 14-6 record against. So let’s say he was our coach this year, going by percentages Arkansas would lean towards a 10-2 record and be in the playoff hunt. Though his physical type of team likely beats one of Ole Miss & aTm.

Well, Arkansas is 15-57 in conference play since 2017. So no, I don't care.
Fuente had a 10 win season at VaTech and went to the ACC Championship game. Lasted like 6 years. Norvell had an undefeated season (until all his players quit the bowl game in protest) where he won 13 games and the ACC Championship. He has not been fired yet and beat Alabama (which Arkansas hasn't done since the Bush administration)
Their "failures" would be huge successes here. If Norvell had been hired when Chad Morris was, Arkansas football would be in much better shape.

I like Sumrall but he likely heads to LSU if they fire BK it sounds like.

I would take Kill in a heartbeat. To be brutally honest, however, I am not sure Kill would survive his first season. I don't mean in terms of getting fired. I mean live through it. He has been in poor health for a long time.
Hire him as the GM and Kill might be able to work wonders here. Full time HC, however, would likely to be a death sentence.

Y’all know Kill isn’t even an on field coach right? Tim Beck is their OC
