Wes is 54 Dave is 65 that isn't close in age.

UGA never had the pitching this year, no front line ace and a mediocre bullpen/depth. Wes has not been able to get elite pitching despite being an elite pitching coach and the pub getting Paul Skenes his one year at LSU for a natty.

Okay. You’ve got me there - I think that’s actually a very spot on assessment. It is just so damned frustrating. And I’ll admit, it’s a shite in one hand, want in the other ethos for me. I’ve seen us be way better when there was way less available and that’s what’s frustrating down to the Walton’s not going Mark Cuban(literally a drop in their bucket with how fast their money makes money) when they say that they want to make not just NWA, but the Delta and the State a better place - when Razorback football is thriving, most things are in Arkansas.

Baseball is really the only sport anymore where a Cinderella can not just make a run but win it all. Will never happen in CFP era or March Madness, hell even just a deep run anymore by one in MM seems unlikely in this new era.

Also I think goes to show that giving a shite about the regular season is completely pointless other than just to talk ball with friends or on social media. Whether you're coast to coast #1 or #2 like we've been and bounced early or UCLA/GT this year or you're dreadful most of the year like OU none of it really matters. Just get in and play well for 3 weeks.

I think it shows pulling funding from baseball to be reallocated to football and basketball is more than justified.

Yeah, I’m not sold or in the camp of “if we just get rid of Hobbs and Thompson, DVH will magically get better assistants, make better coaching decisions and magically win a title after never doing it”. Maybe my memory is off but didn’t we have Vitello and Johnson at the same time or very close at one point? - guess my question would be what was holding us back then?

Never said DVH isn’t “good” he has shown he isn’t great and he is either the most snake bit coach ever other than Martin or can’t get out of his own head. Also, pretty sure we could at least get some interest from a guy who just won a title, has been to finals twice within last 5 years or less(and again, capitalized on his opportunity and brought a trophy home) from a school that cares infinitely more about women’s softball than men’s baseball. I’d maybe be on board with Wes Johnson as well. But it’s time for a golden parachute and great retirement party - DVH is 74 and needs to be offered an excellent retirement deal, put his name on a plaque or something, and give him Emeritus status. To put it in perspective, Norm retired at 59.
