Talk about a hire from out of left field and not another SEC retread. Wonder how Pittman is connected to him.

Will be interesting to see how he does here

We must have been very high on him because we practically announced this hire within a heartbeat of Carter leaving.

He's a young coach, and Pittman seems to like young position coaches, and he's got some ties in the area. This could be very interesting.

What would you expect from a rivalry that had to cancel a series for 20 years dealing with fights in a stadium and issues with withholding tickets?

Texas and Ole Miss are most hated programs by Arkansas fans. Screw those clowns.

I could give two shits about Ole Miss. There is no rivalry with Ole Miss in my mind and I could give two shits about what their fans says. They’ve never been a threat in either of the major 3 sports, thus do not cross my mind in terms of rivalries.

So stop taking every little piece of bait thrown on the rant and start acting like a Hog poster or walk the damn plank.

Embarrassing….”Ole Miss is a rival” fricking kidding me….good lord man.

This one was awfully quick. Wonder how long Carter has been out the door?

I would assume he has been out since the guys started hitting the portal. Rumors said Sam wanted him gone but Odom liked him, then all that happened.

He's annoyed. Just nod and he will be fine tomorrow.

I will say this was quite the trump card we played on Ole Miss. "We stole one of your coaches!" and then we hire his replacement a couple of hours later.

Sounds like a good hire. He's been a part of a lot of teams that were better when he was there in his specific area.

The close games don't lie.

Arkansas-Ole Miss series

As you can see the series was cancelled for 20 years until 1981. They didn't cancel just because but they did so as both were powerhouses that HATED each other. The series resumed after the hatred died down. While Ole Miss was bad after integration, they still gave Arkansas a conference title contender a lot of trouble during the 80s.

Arkansas and Ole Miss are similar programs that are historically pretty even. The games reflect it and both states border each other, both fans interact with each other all the time. Both fans for example had fights in parking lots and my experience has been terrible in Oxford. Anything from taunts to feeling like me and other relatives would as a group get jumped at anytime. They may not be of anything in all sports but they are still a threat to Arkansas and if you can't beat them then you have no chance of winning the West. Look at how important the loss to Arkansas was for the rest of the year.

You can have fun in Oxford but when the liquor is heavy and the rebs are losing or have lost then they get very obnoxious fast. That can be said for any fans but they are sore losers to a high degree and losing to Arkansas gets under the skin. Worst is they talk a lot of trash for a program that has won nothing since the Johnny Vaught days. I can understand why from Bama or LSU are arrogant but Ole Miss is arrogant because they are hiding an inferiority complex. Think about it, they haven't won a conference title in football since 1963. You would think they would be more humble but no and that rubs off razorback fans the wrong way as Arkansas fans are very level headed compared to them. It is why Arkansas fans dislike them as they are arrogant for no reason which is a contrast to state fans who don't share the same level of an inferiority complex and don't care what anyone thinks of them.

Oxford is the definition of what a college town should be

Hard for me to hate Ole Miss when Texas is moving to the conference. And the arrogance coming out of College Station is getting almost as bad as Austin, with none of the hardware to show for it.

Ole Miss fans are fairly relatable in comparison. That Rebel AC0515 or whatever is just trolling y’all

I would much rather deal with an uppity Ole Miss fan… than any of the Texas/A&M or OU people.
