1. Norvell

The rest in no particular order:
Clark
Leach
Kiffen

Norvell is the clear #1 and we need to hire him asap. He has a $500k buyout. He has Arkansas ties and he is young. His undefeated and ranked program just hosted college gameday and beat a top 15 ranked team in a packed liberty bowl. Their fans were pumped and excited. He runs a spread offense that uses TE heavily. Which is basically perfect for Arkansas/TE U. His teams have exceptional special teams play. He will end up at one of our rivals if we don't make a move.

Arkansas ties or not I'd be more likely to tell Arkansas to go frick themselves after hiring Chad Morris over me just two years ago if I was him.

His ties are to UCA not Arkansas directly so it isn't the same as say Mike Anderson who had direct ties and was passed over or the job previously.

Yeah that is still a tie to Arkansas. And his wife is from Arkansas. He already has relationships built with high school coaches in Arkansas and Memphis. This is a no brainer.

It was last time as well.

Is stock has only improved since then.

If he were to say "naw I'm good you have the guy you wanted" as he waited for other offers, I wouldn't blame him.

This isn't a Jimmie Johnson or Ken Hatfield scenario Arkansas put themselves in two years ago.

How about Chip Kelly? Any chance on luring him from UCLA? Chip + KJ would be fun

Why wasn't Leach pitched a couple of years ago? Surely he would have come here over BFE central Washington.

If he's such a hot commodity why is he still in BFE central Washington is the real question.

I don't think coaches hold petty grudges like this, even though I see this repeated everywhere. It's a business and they understand that all too well.

Besides, it wasn't our current AD that passed over him. You contact his agent with a good enough deal and 2 years ago goes *POOF* in his mind. In fact, he probably earned himself a nice raise from the contract we would've offered him 2 years ago.

I really don't think it'll be a factor. If he wants the job and it's offered to him there's no way it holds him back.

Allegedly it's because he's a jackass.

ETA: Which, BTW, doesn't bother me a bit. I don't see anything wrong with acting like a jackass now and then.

His personality is definitely a reason. But it's also because he kinda tip-toes the line between his current tier and the next tier.

He's not really cut out for a job at the top 10-15 programs historically because of his inconsistent records and personality. But he's also too good to fall below where he's at now.

There's a small window of teams above Washington that would be an upgrade in facilities, conference, competition, and recognition without being out of his reach. I believe we are one of those teams.

Reality is because his programs are not consistent and many embarrassing losses that should never happen, happen.
