I’m pretty underwhelmed but Pittman is 48 dude.

Imagine being a yes man like Dale. If the hire isn't who your buddies want it to be you'll frickin slander the guy before he even steps one foot in his office. This dude would literally get on his knees and suck Jerry Jones' dick if Jerry asked him to. It's pathetic.

Is he? I would check wiki, but the UA will have to get on creating the page first thing in the morning.

Not sure if some of you understand this, but the AD is not autonomous. Part of his job has to be to identify coaches that are willing, if not enthusiastic about being our coach, and match that up with board members, boosters, and administration who are willing, if not enthusiastic about having them here as coach.

Born in 61, makes you about a decade off.

Im absolutely underwhelmed, and i have no doubt he was option D or E. That being said I have no doubt he will at a minimum rebuild the offensive line which will put the next guy in better shape than the last 2. And honestly he cant do any worse than 0-fer the SEC and 4 wins in 2 years.

Ah I wasn't aware. Hiring a guy with 0 experience as anything more than a position coach is cool then

It certainly isn’t a splash hire, and has the potential to turn to shite, but Pittman being who he is makes this a risk worth taking. His strength is our biggest weakness. He is highly respected among his peers, and is much more than a position coach. His experience brings the potential to bring in excellent coordinators and assistants, and by all accounts, the kids he coaches will run through walls for him.
The facts are, he wants the job. And for all we know, he may have been one of a very few that actually wanted the job. People like Leach and Davis were most likely looking for that sweet, sweet SEC retirement money. Kiffin was simply looking for a better deal.

Seems to be more common these days.
Oregon just won the PAC in year 2 doing the same thing with Cristobal. Spent years and years in the SEC as the top ranked recruiter, just like HCSP.

Says 48 here.
If he played at Pittsburg State from 80-83, he would have done so from age 9 to age 12. Maybe someone at Georgia doesn’t math too well.

Cristobal had been a HC for 6 years before he took over Oregon.

I said recruiting.
We all know how bad Mario did there.

But he had experience running a program.
Obviously staff is critical, probably a good idea for the OC and/or DC to have some past HC experience at some level.

Well technically Pittman was a head coach for 2 years at a college program. About as good as being awful at a small school for a few years in Cristobal's case.
Both got their name and jobs based off being the #1 ranked recruiter in the SEC for many years.

Pittman wasn’t a popular hire but if you were paying attention when he was here as OL coach you should have known he would be a good one.
Where are games won and lost in the SEC? On the line. Pittman had really good OLs here under Bert and our program started sinking when he left (and UGA started subsequently rising).
That said, I was all in for Leach prior to having Pittman as a realistic candidate, and Leach has adjusted well thus far (I think MSU will fight us for 2nd in the West this year and get us at their place). Time will tell but thus far both Pittman and Leach have been good hires.

Definitely liked how the 2nd went and kind of on board with the final season Dale said Pittman would coach.
Also, it’s nice to go through and thread like this and not see my handle anywhere to be found.
