More than rumors, there was interest. I don't know how far it got, it may have just been a phone call, but Leach was for sure on our radar.
I'm not a huge fan, but it is hard to imagine Leach not being a huge upgrade from what we have going right now.

I just remember a whole lot of folks shouting for Leach when we were looking, never heard the first word, good, bad or otherwise from anyone out there.
I don't remember all the details regarding each reporter/writer and who all they had rumors on but I remember it being more message board talk about wanting Leach.
It seemed like the order was Gus->Norvell-> then it starts getting out of whack with a bunch of names but don't remember our writers or reporters talking about Leach much or any at all. Guess someone could prove that totally wrong.
Regardless of any thing that happened last coaching search, my point is that I don't think he is off the table.

Maybe so, I just think there have been quite a few higher profile gigs available, that leach could have probably landed in the last few years. He doesn't strike me as a coach that would just jump for the hell of it.

quote:No one blasted Muss. I didn't phrase it the best but was just saying Muss's teams weren't good in the NBA and that good coaches usually have some team sucess before they were fired in the NBA not that he isn't a good coach. We are miserable tho I will agree.
We’re so miserable we’ve started blasting a coach before his first game in a thread about a completely different sport.

Leach for sure was interested in both this job, and in the tenner job. Our POS GOBN wouldnt even entertain him because we were getting gussiah to come save the program!
Oh wait no we got the flea market knock off version which every team he leaves gets a ton better once he is gone.

Do you know Leach, his agent, or the people making the decisions personally?

He fricking said he asked about both jobs publically. He told the story about tenner, and said he made a phone call here, but was never offered it here, or interviewed.

We’ll help me out here, then. The extent of the links I can find between Leach and the Arkansas job is a flat dismissal of any interest at all, and a tweet by Mike Irwin that says he is interested. What do you have?

Thats just an asinine statement
Cal was .391 and Rick .446 and only once won over 40 games.
Tim Floyd crashed
Lon Kruger Crashed
Hoiberg sucked
Heck Brad Stevens is the only one in recent history to have some success.

good NBA coaches are usually good before they get fired tho.

I am gonna jump in for just a bit, and then let yall carry on.
Leach was interested in talking and got so far as a phone call before the board put an end to it. Gus was thought to have taken the job leaving us with our..... in our hands.
And, no.. .I don't have media reports, other than those already mentioned. I have a couple of folks who are close relatives to BOT and PTB. Now, carry one. WPS!

I think chad is as capable as leach.
it's not like leach has a great track record of winning games he should.

You’re forgetting about his years at Tech. Can you think of any time before his time there, when Tech was beating Texas, Oklahoma, Okie State, and TCU with any regularity? Can you think of a time when they expected to win those games?

Good enough, and thank you. I’d take him in a heartbeat, at this point.

all those years going 8-4 and 9-3 and 7-5. featuring loses to Colorado, new mexico, east Carolina, and houston. he seems more prone in his rebuild at washington state even. he certainly wasn't winning the big game often either....

Downvoted as a Tardville rumor

Do you know anybody with, say, a nephew or grandson that moved to Florida a few years ago? We always hear pretty similar info

The difference being that Leach was a nasty bastard when his teams underperformed, instead of building them a dance club. And I did see several big game wins. There was an 11-2 season in there as well.
