I just can't get over the what if we don't go full retard and actually start Mac vs OM.

Still the dumbest decision this season.

He was an unknown with a few starts. I don't see a bad decision here.

This team that limped in to Omaha doesn't have the pitching to beat OU.

The funny thing is before that game everyone assumed we were starting Mac, even in this thread.

"The rotation has changed in the postseason"

Also here's Morris and game over.

Then it was Morris and the 8 other pitchers trotted to the mound's fault.

Not when you punt game 1 to OM.

Take a look at how much better Morris, Taylor, Mac and Noland were

We didn't have a pitcher that could throw strikes

Matt Hobbs you can stay but go tell Nate that the bus is full.

This.

Our pitching developed this year. We lost our preseason ace in Pallette, our Friday starter hadn’t meaningful innings since the abbreviated 2020 season, and our Saturday starter was a true freshman.

Taylor developed into an elite setup guy, and Tygart was Kopps-like until he hit the freshman wall down the stretch. Ramage and Zeb were better than they’ve historically been. McEntire came out of nowhere.

Pitching kept us competitive this year while the offense continued to stumble.

Meanwhile, the only .300 hitters we had were portal guys, Moore and Slavens regressed profoundly from last year, and our 9 hole hitter was an automatic 3 pitch out. Quite literally the only guy who developed on offense better this year was Webb, and that was only after he started 0-23.

There does seem to be an issue there.

Moore was a head scratcher until you realize that he changed his approach from hitting line drives to trying to get under everything. Slavens was exposed late last season and didn't adjust. His swing is suited for slow pitch softball, not high level baseball.

Now it’s dumb, yes.

I get it though. Morris just gave us 4 solid innings of shut out ball against the best offense we face this year in Stillwater. Smith had very poor starts his last 2-3 opportunities and had seemed to thrive in the closer role.

Agree that if we get Smiths performance on Monday, we likely are playing for a title. Rolled the dice and it didn’t work.
