I really thought we had something with Griffin then he just imploded. If some of these fringe guys figure it out pitching may not be too terrible.

Sometimes I think we should just put a new pitcher in every inning. Seen so many guys in baseball look dominant for an inning then fall apart.

Still have a ton of arms we haven’t seen. Definitely have options. Glad I’m not the one who has to narrow it down.

I'm not sure if it's more about narrowing it down or just finding the ones that will be effective consistently. No one is consistent.

Agree completely. The Nick Griffin second inning was unfortunate for a guy who was making his college debut and coming off TJ surgery.

We have a game midweek so they want to hold some arms and tried to squeeze extra out of Nick in the ninth but his confidence after that eighth inning would've been much different than the wild ninth.

Yep.

Scream about pitching all you want, but the offense is a concern.

The biggest problem is we’re getting no production from the highly recruited freshman and OU transfer. To early to tell if they are busts or just slumping. Either way I bet we can more than .167 and .000 batting average out of those positions.

Yep.

We had 28 strikeouts (!) in the doubleheader yesterday. And that’s after averaging 10 a game in the Eastern Illinois series.

We also stranded way too many runners this weekend. We had two innings in the back half of the Stanford game where we loaded the bases and weren’t able to put a single run across in either inning.

Pitching has held their own pretty well this season, but the bats have been silent.

Oddly enough, that's true. We were supposed to be a team mashers this season. We look anything but a strong offensive team thus far. Very underwhelming at the plate.

I don't understand how he can hit anything with how badly he lets his head and body fly out on every single swing.

I get that Bohrofen is really talented and was highly rated but the expectations for him did seem a little high for a guy who hit .250 last year.

We've got to either get him or Webb going at some point. It's still early but if they don't hit we may be forced to move Wallace back to the outfield and have Diggs or someone at 3rd. I really liked Kendall's hit against the shift last night.

I’m no hitting instructor, but Slavens has the weirdest contortion of his lower half that I’ve ever seen. He looks like he’s about to break his left ankle on every swing, and his knee almost touches the ground.

I actually thought he'd torn something the first time I saw him take a swing.
