First-year coach tiers: Who makes the NCAA tournament, who doesn't

quote:

Tier Two: Enough to fight for a bid, but questions remain

Eric Musselman, Arkansas: Musselman takes over for Mike Anderson, who was let go in March after eight seasons in Fayetteville. After having so much success with transfers at Nevada, Musselman has already brought in five transfers -- including two graduate transfers who should make an immediate impact. But Musselman also returns four starters from last season, including guards Isaiah Joe and Mason Jones. There are going to be growing pains during the transition, and this was still a team that finished 18-16 and lost its best player (Daniel Gafford) to the NBA. But on paper, Arkansas could still compete for a bid.

Looked about as expected in my opinion. Once again, size is going to be a big issue at times. We are going to need to be effective behind the 3 point line and defensive rebound.

Yes,we need a some bigs really bad.

Our defense looked good and there was motion on offense.

Looks like we'll depend on the three a good deal this year.

But we won fairly easily,as we should have,so there's that.

My unofficial count of transfer waivers thus far:

- 36 have been approved
- 4 have been denied
- 74 still haven’t been ruled on by the NCAA

Nice, we should know about Conor’s eligibility by a week or two before the SEC Tournament.

I think this is achievable though. I could tell there was more emphasis in finding the open guys in the corner and at the top of the arc based on how the ball moved around. Jo3 will kill people until he starts drawing doubles, then we'll be able to just swing it to another guard on the opposite end. I actually think our offense will be pretty good. Interior defense terrifies me, though. I Chaney didn't get to play much and that will help, but Little Rock was much bigger and more physical. That will be a very frequent theme. We're going to have to go the route Auburn took last year.
