Adrio Bailey has played a lot of basketball for the University of Arkansas, and he has one more opportunity to leave his mark this upcoming season as a senior.
Bailey, 6-6, 217, played 18.6 minutes per game during his junior campaign, averaging 7.6 points. He also averaged 3.0 rebounds a game and dished out 25 assists on the year. The forward has played for the Razorbacks since 2016 and has played in at least 27 games every season.
“It flies by,” Bailey said last month. “Coming in, you are just trying to learn the ropes but now you trying to teach the ropes. All in all, it’s been a humbling experience. From the previous years being here, to even the coaching change, it’s changed me. Not only as a person but as a player too. I’m loving it.”
Bailey was recruited by former Razorback head coach Mike Anderson and played under him for three years. This offseason, Anderson was fired and replaced by former Nevada head coach Eric Musselman.
“The transition, it was kind of tough at first trying to learn a whole new system,” Bailey said. “All these plays, like running up and down trying to keep the same pace but with more plays and more strategies, so it was kind of difficult at first for everyone. But, as time went on, he made it fun for us. We got to learn and have fun at the same time, so he made it good for everyone.”
Bailey has adjusted well to the new coaching staff, and he was a top performer during the Red-White Game in Barnhill Arena last Saturday. He scored eight points and brought down seven boards. The highlight of the night was a Bailey jam in the second half that drew a big roar from the crowd. Rebounding will be a big key for Bailey and the Hogs, as the team lacks size.

“I thought Adrio Bailey did a great job of slashing and getting extra possessions,” Musselman said postgame. “He took two shots that were mid-range shots that we did not, we don’t feel that’s in his wheelhouse so-to-speak and we discussed that with him.”
“Speaking for myself, I definitely want to go out,” Bailey said. “I’m giving it everything I got in practice, games, even doing the media thing, I’ll make sure I give you everything I got, I speak from the heart, I speak the truth. From the hunger standpoint of making it to the NCAA Tournament, I’ve never seen so many people in this gym each and every day. If you come in at 6 in the morning, somebody is there, at 10 or 11 at night somebody is in here doing something to help not only the team but themselves. As a team, we are very hungry and eager to win.”

So players actually care under a real coach.

I'm really looking forward to seeing this team play.
It's nice not knowing what we are going to get ahead of time again.

Any idea what their reasons for transfer were compared to sick grandma?
Just assuming its a totally inconsistent crap shoot with the NCAA.

Looks like we may be adding an outline of the state for the new court similar to what Texas Tech and Ole Miss do

Ugh. The state shape crap a million schools do? Very creative

With slobbering hog in the middle no one will care about the state shape. No more #NeverYield on sideline either.

We also changed the shade of red a little back to the way it used to look. I know BWA has a renovation coming, heard we're remodeling the museum and possibly adding a beer garden which would be pretty sweet. All rumors though.

Should say he transferred because of racism.

This says a lot, mostly that MA had maxed out here and so had his players. They're keeping the notorious fast pace we've had, but adding new wrinkles and strategies; something MA wouldn't have done.
I think we'll see these guys reach a much higher potential under Muss. The first few outings might be a little shaky while the new system and strategies are applied in real games, but it sounds like everyone has been inspired by Muss to reach a new level.
I'm excited for basketball season for the first time in a long time.

The SEC's blog did a capsule on each team for SEC media day.

Like father, like son (to a point) for new Arkansas coach Eric Musselman.
Washington Wizards head coach Scott Brooks once said the only difference between the father-son coaching duo of Bill and Eric Musselman was "their first names."
"I don't know if that's good or bad," Eric Musselman joked. A long and successful career as a pro and college assistant and head coach, most recently at Nevada where he won 110 games in four years, shows the new Arkansas boss certainly shares his late father's legendary intensity, competitiveness and "love of the game," as Eric said.
Where the son has followed his own path is embracing a more entertaining and high-scoring style that features the 3-point shot. Eric Musselman remembered working as an assistant to his dad with the NBA's Minnesota Timberwolves and playing grind-it-out affairs that might end 79-75.
"I told Dad, if I ever become a head coach, I'll never play this style because it's boring to watch," Eric said. He imagines his father up in heaven watching his teams play and saying, "What are you doing? Your team's taking 30 bad shots a game."
The son is doing something right. He won 503 games as a professional head coach, which included two seasons with the NBA's Golden State Warriors and one with the Sacramento Kings.
All-SEC post man Daniel Gafford is gone to the NBA's Chicago Bulls, but the cupboard isn't empty in Fayetteville, where the Razorbacks are the only SEC team to return two of the league's top 20 scorers. Sophomore guard Isaiah Joe is the third-leading returning scorer - after setting a school record with 113 made 3-pointers - and Mason Jones is No. 4 among returning scorers.
"We need Isaiah, Mason and Desi (Sills) to knock shots down from the perimeter because of our lack of size," Musselman said. "That'll distinguish who we are, our ability to get extra points behind the 3-point line."
