He didn't disappear. The NCAA screwed with him over home school transcripts or whatnot. He played a year of junior college, signed with TCU and I don't know what after that.

I think he's graduated from Fordham Law School

Never played. Grandfather, a coaching legend in New Jersey, was dying of cancer. Scandals surrounding the family and recruiting of players. Kid said frick football and went to law school. Was a Parade All-American per bio. Seemed like a real badass. Too bad NCAA fricked him over and we never got a chance to find out.

I'm 100% sure he would've been the greatest linebacker in Arkansas and maybe NCAA history, but since we're Arkansas we can't have shite except a big barrel of dicks and "What if's".

I swear. I'll riot if we hire Ron Roberts. Fired Baylor DC

Pittman and a few others followed him recently. So I assume it will be.

Can we quit pretending that Sam has all these deep connections if so?

He's also rumored for the Auburn job. Must not be that bad if 2 SEC schools are on him.

I think he has connections. I think the job coming off a 6-6 year is holding us back. If we go 8-4, we probably have top coaches reaching out.

I’d rather Roberts than someone like Grantham or Mason.

Source: All signs are pointing toward former Baylor DC, Ron Roberts, becoming the next defensive coordinator at Arkansas.

The Bears had a terrific defense in 2021 leading the Big 12 in TOs forced, turnover margin, and defensive TDs. They also record 44 sacks, 5th in FBS.

Dunno, but this is what? Like the 3rd or 4th name that sources said would be our DC

We’ll probably never know, but I’m curious to what led to his and Aranda’s split this year. Roberts was allegedly his coaching mentor and their defense wasn’t just overly bad.

If that is the case then he should have kept Odom.

Why did he get fired if they had a good defense? Honestly asking. I've never heard of this dude but Baylor has had pretty good D since Aranda got there if I recall.

We all loved 3rd and Chavis.

This guy is known as 3rd and Roberts apparently.

3rd down conversion rate in 2022 of 47%, got worse to 50% last 3 games.

That's actually worse than Chavis on 3rd down.

To be fair most offenses didn't even need a 3rd down against Chavis. But, yeah, that's not good. Do not want.

Arkansas has targeted former Baylor defensive coordinator Ron Roberts in its search for a new play-caller, sources tell 247Sports.

Arkansas is seeking to replace Barry Odom, who left the Hogs this week to become UNLV’s head coach. Arkansas coach Sam Pittman interviewed Roberts this week as interest from other schools in the veteran assistant increases, the sources said. Roberts was No. 1 on HawgSports' coaching search Hot Board this week.

Roberts, 55, has risen through the ranks of college football, from Delta State to Louisiana and most recently at Baylor. He led the Bears to a top-10 finish in scoring as they finished the 2021 season as Big 12 champions with the program’s first New Year’s Six bowl victory under head coach Dave Aranda.

Aranda fired Roberts Dec. 1 after three years leading the Bears’ defense, which ranked 65th in scoring (26.6) this fall. Baylor was 10th in the country last season at 18.3 points per game.

Roberts, 55, was Aranda’s mentor at Delta State, where Roberts served as defensive coordinator for two seasons before he was elevated to head coach in 2007. He hired Aranda as his defensive coordinator. Roberts led Delta State for five seasons, which included four Gulf South Conference titles, four playoff appearances and an appearance in the NCAA Division II National Championship Game in 2010.

Roberts, who also coached linebackers at Baylor, was hired away by Southeastern Louisiana before the 2012 season and went on to win the program’s first Southland Conference titles in 2013 and 2014 as the head coach. He moved on to Louisiana, his first job on the FBS level, to become Billy Napier’s defensive coordinator in 2018 before Aranda brought him to Waco in 2020.

Roberts is known as “the godfather” of the recent proliferation of simulated pressures/blitzes in major college football. His schemes provide a safer avenue to fake blitzes while not losing coverage responsibilities. Roberts’ staff in 2013 at Southeastern Louisiana included future Alabama coordinator Pete Golding, future Seattle Seahawks secondary coach Karl Scott and future Florida co-defensive coordinator Patrick Toney.

“What was created during that time gave birth to many of the norms we see in modern college defenses,” analyst Cody Alexander explained in 2018.

Arkansas is expected to lose linebackers coach Michael Scherer to UNLV, where he will follow Odom, sources tell 247Sports. Scherer is expected to coach the Razorbacks through their bowl appearance Dec. 28 against Kansas at the Liberty Bowl.

If Pittman hires a guy who just got fired by a defensive head coach... Then he needs to be fricking shown the door tomorrow and go try to buy Prime Time from Colorado right now.

If he was going to do this, why not just elevate Scherer? This is going to get Pittman fired. The fanbase will never get behind a guy who was just fired.

Hire Roberts and Tray Scott as co-DC

Roberts as LB specialist and Scott as DL assistant

If and when KJ gets nicked up or in concussion protocol for a week or two we will have a capable QB to play.
