... As far as Scoring efficiency (aka how many points per play you gave up) through the 12 week regular season. This is the most effective Stat at judging total defense.

There are some very poachable DCs on this list. Pittman could easily go after Marshall, Illinois, or Troy's DCs.

(in case you were wondering, Arkansas was 80th this year)

I don’t see the Birmingham Stallions on that list.

Most good DCs were either former LBs or DBs and/or coaches.

Some guy on 247 said we’re hiring Louisville’s S&C coach to replace Walker so good to see them on this list at least. Maybe they’ve got some dudes on that side of the ball from his development.

That’d be a huge get. He was Georgia’s S&C coach from 2017-2021 and helped physically build the team that won the NC last year.

You see all the big 10 teams near the top and it makes me wonder is it great defense or shitty offenses

Shitty offenses. The West has been an abomination to watch this year.

Iowa, Nebraska, Wisconsin, and Northwestern were absolutely horrid this year. Illinois and Minnesota weren’t much better. The only offense worth a shite in that division is Purdue.

People keep talking up Ryan Walters from Illinois, but he didn’t exactly face a Murderers Row of offenses.

He held Michigan, which was one of the best offenses in the nation, to 17 pts.

Personally....I'd go hard after Joe Rossi at Minnesota.

They don’t have one of the best offenses. They have a ground and pound. If they are a top offense we are better, as they are ranked 27 and we are ranked 26…

Michigan didn’t use the forward pass until the Ohio State game with tOSU playing cover zero having safeties at the line of scrimmage led to those Michigan explosive plays.

I believe it was 5 scoring plays over sixty yards.

It’s impressive Michigan was able to ground and pound to victory in all games before Ohio State but also tells you the competition they faced. Michigan QB missed numerous targets badly against Illinois.

the guy at Syracuse or the guy at Boise State

you pause greatly on guys who benefitted from slow motion time of possession offense

if your offense kept you off the field, good job by that head coach. It doesn't make the defensive coordinator a genius

The Iowa guy would be the best guy to get, but he has been with Kirk the whole time or around iowa his whole career. I doubt he leaves ever.

The guy that was at Wisconsin wouldn’t be bad.

Leonhard is reportedly staying at Wisconsin as DC.

I’ve heard conflicting reports on that. I’d also be okay with reaching out to Gary Patterson to see if he’d be interested in the DC role although I’ve heard he’s not big on recruiting.
