I was thinking about this yesterday, it is impressive how much tougher the SEC is now since 2013. The addition of A&M and the added coverage combined with the fall of the Big 12 are the primary drivers.

It's funny to look back at the 2011 season and realize how laughably easy it was for us with an average team. The two tough games we played we were blown out but finished 11-2 thanks to a cupcake schedule and a favorable bowl matchup.

I'm not envious of the job Bert has had to do.

I was clearly joking. The 10' 11' teams would have 1 loss this season and be potentially vying for that 4th seed after the way this last weekend ended up

You call that 2011 team average? We had one of the best, if not the best, offenses in the country.

That couldn't move the ball against above average defenses. If you want to truly be an excellent team you have to be able to move the ball consistently against above average teams AND be able to stop below average to average teams with your own defense.

I feel like people are forgetting all the games against teams like Troy, Ole Miss, Vanderbilt, an average A&M, and the time we gave up 41 straight to LSU.

Couldn't move the ball against above averge defenses!?? The only games they lost were to 2 of the GREATEST defenses in college football history.

I didn't realize vandy and om defenses were that good that year.

As are 2 of the teams we lost to this year. I'd actually say this year's Alabama defense is better than either 2011 LSU or Alabama defense. And this year's LSU defense may be better than the 2011 LSU defense.

LSU has given up 10 touchdowns this year. Total. Tell me that isn't impressive.

And I bet you remember fully how the Vanderbilt and Ole Miss games went that year. Those sure were some all world defenses...

I miss complaining about close wins instead of 30 point losses

LSU game was closer than the score looked. We lead for a decent chunk of the game and it was close in the 4th quarter.

I was disappointed we lost but didn't feel like our team was an embarrassment

The point being that the 2011 schedule was easier to go 10-2 in than the 2016 schedule. There were major flaws in 2011 that were masked by a cupcake schedule.

The conference is deeper in 2016 than it was in 2011. I'd even say college football in general has more parity in 2016 than it did in 2011.

K. We lost by 24 to Saban's best team and LSU's best team ever. We won 10 regular season games. That is a feat we should not concern ourselves with as long as we pay easily the worst coach in the west 4.5 million.

Closer than the score? Our QB had a 56 QBR.

LSU gained 500 yards of offense. Arkansas gained 250.

Arkansas rushed for 47 yards. LSU rushed for almost 300.

Arkansas had 3 turnovers and very few penalties.

What was "closer than the score"? We went up quick 14-0 and gave up 41 straight. Their final touchdown was with 10 minutes left in the 4th quarter.

This year's Alabama team is better than 2011. And we only lost by 14. So is this year's team better than 2011's?

The answer is no. However, I think it's an objective fact that the 2011 schedule was easier than the 2016 schedule. And that the conference was easier in 2010-2012 than it has been 2013-2016.

2016 Alabama >= 2011 Alabama
2016 Auburn > 2011 Auburn
2016 Arkansas < 2011 Arkansas
2016 LSU = 2011 LSU (2011 LSU offense wasn't great but better, 2016 defense is better)
2016 Mississippi State > 2011 Mississippi State
2016 Ole Miss > 2011 Ole Miss
2016 Texas A&M > 2011 Texas A&M (not in conference at time, but we played them)
