It was fricking Rice dude.
Yeah, but we would have lost that game under Bert or Aggy Bert. We played bad for 3 1/2 quarters and still found a way to win with a lopsided score.
I'm going to wait and pass judgment a little later.

quote:That's part of the passing game... We agree that pass protection was not good. I saw no cause for complaint in run blocking, however.
OL struggled mightily.
As far as special teams are concerned, I may just be a battered fan with lower expectations. I'm thrilled we finally seem to have some real legs at the punter and kicker positions. The blocked punt didn't outshine that to me. If punt protection becomes a consistent problem, then yeah I'll start to worry, but that was pretty far down on my takeaways this game. There were much more glaring issues, IMO.

The team looked unprepared in all phases against Rice imo.

That game was the result of a team feeding of their coaches lack of energy. Bert's primary problem here was his arrogance. He thought he was doing us poor hillbillies a favor by gracing us with his coaching.
Everyone knows we shouldn't be playing in LR but as the HC you smile clap and tell everyone how grateful you are to be there. You tell the players how much of an honor it is. Bert thought he was better than playing in WMS and his team laid an egg because of it. Mind you that team had the talent to get 10 wins.
That attitude is a good example of why JL was such a shite AD too. Bert felt like that because he was allowed to. It's why he did so much better at Wisky. Alvarez kept his arse in line. He bailed to us because JL was too weak to do so.
Mike Anderson was the same. Hunter came to him after the season to ask what he was going to change to get better. Being used to JL Anderson told him he wasn't changing anything. JL was weak and it filtered down to our 2 major programs.
Had to work it up a bit but there is my melt

Bert would lose. These are his hangover games.

I'll have to rewatch but I didn't really see that. OL definitely didn't struggle in the running game.
KJ was pressured but it looked to me like a lot of it had to do with him moving around uncomfortably.
