We could probably pay Petrino lower than the going rate for a coach too since it’s pretty clear he likes the state/NWA and wants to coach here.
That worked well for Sam. Quit pretending any coach is taking a discount because they love the helmet.

Is it a lost cause to hope that one day we will have an AD and board of trustees who are cutthroat and ready to do what it takes to win in the SEC and build a successful program on the national stage?

Yes, move on to basketball and baseball to support.

Don't forget that Sam left Arkansas for the same position at Georgia.
Bobby turned down the HC job at Florida to stay at Arkansas.
If anything we only have evidence that Bobby is more loyal to Arkansas than Sam.

It's hilarious watching people act like we're too good for Petrino.
Minus the rebuild year where he had to start Casey Dick he went 29-10 (15-9) during the height of SEC dominance. But sure, we can do better.
If anything, we're lucky a coach of his ability has preexisting ties and is practically begging for the job considering the state the program is in.

Those same people will let loose of those pearls with the quickness if the wins start coming in. Most of them anyway. I was pissed when we fired him and have stayed that way, for the most part, for the last 13 or so seasons. Frick Jeff Long and all the other holier than thou, first stone throwers.

It just makes absolutely no sense to me. Petrino is literally the reason those people have the expectations they do in the first place.
The recruiting difference between Nutt, Petrino, and every coach since then is negligible if not nonexistent. The difference was his coaching and the standards he set.

I thought it was a huge mistake to fire Petrino. But it’s not 2011. Literally nobody is trying to hire Petrino at this point. Maybe the Arkansas job is so bad he’s the best we can do but I doubt it.

At this point I don't care what people think of his personal life or personality. He's one of the best coaches we've ever had.
quote:If HY gets replaced before the coaching search I'll cede wiggle room to this point, but every hire we've made since we fired Bobby pushes back against this and our reputation in coaching circles has only gone down since then. You had guys like Biddy reporting coaches saying they "wouldn't touch this job with a 10' pole" during the cycle we hired Pittman. Now we've got our AD publicly throwing his hands up in surrender in regards to NIL funding. That's not attracting anybody worth a damn.
Maybe the Arkansas job is so bad he’s the best we can do but I doubt it.
I do not trust HY to conduct a competent coaching search. That's another reason I want the administration to just make the layup instead of going for the dunk.

I don’t really want Petrino to be head coach. But also I want him to call our offense. I’d give him the shot. Nothing he does can be worse than Pittman, except his exit.
First part, the reason our NIL has quit donating is apparently edge sucked? Not one person worth a frick has ran it. We need… Houston Nutt to run our NIL, hell fire Sam, and say you are leaving “due to a hip injury”. Or something. You get 50% and to make the rest of the money, you do NIL hand shaking beer drinking golfing things for the next few years. And you will get monthly compensation for completing these things.
The second part, if we keep Petrino, Hunter has to go.

So HY fires Sam and names Petrino as interim then the BOT shite cans HY.
Holy shite, this would be worse than the firing of Bert and Long.

Don’t care the order, you can’t disparage the way we are getting money when your job is to raise the money. Especially when you refuse to get rid of the albatross causing apathy in the most revenue generating area you have.

For what it’s worth at the board meeting today HY got his arse lived in for the Touchdown club comments. HY called last year a success, defended Sam, and cited the surplus budget as a plus (despite mass firings). Ended with vague comments from board we’ll support you in upcoming hard choices you have.

This never happens, and if it did the BOT would find a way to frick it up.

Still under contract, he is getting paid either way.
