True. It would be easier to get him on the field more if we had Ryan Mallett as QB.

I have a gut feeling that Malik may start a game this season due to injury. If that happens it may change things as well (good or bad).

wait why are people saying he is going to transfer??? it's fricking obvious the dude just isn't ready yet. holy crap. the dude gets playing time for now. he obviously has Lamar Jackson, Michael Vick, RGIII type skill. seriously, but dude just isn't ready for the big time. he still looks like a freshman out there who can't read a defense, and doesn't protect the ball like he should. that goes for dangerous passes, him fumbling, and his poor mesh points. he also looks like what a super star RB who plays in a smaller level high-school looks like when he first gets some carries when he gets in college. constantly trying to do too much, bounce shite to the outside, run around like crazy looking for the TD when they should just get the easy yards, or in his case throw the ball away and live to play another down.

I can see him following KB, but I don't understand why it's a forgone conclusion he will transfer unless there are rumblings I haven't heard of. dude just has to sit a year or so, and improve his accuracy, and commanding the offense/reading defenses.

Have the hogs ever had a team where the fans thought the backup didn't deserve more playing time?

Why would we want Casey Dick to replace McFadden?

Not to sound too crazy, but he kinda reminds me of Mike Vick

I thought the same thing. If he can work on his passing game/reads/accuracy, holy shite he's gonna cause some defenses some issues.

Side note, I would love to see "peak" Brandon Allen in this offense with these weapons.

If Jefferson keeps getting better then it is very likely that he goes pro after next year. That puts Hornsby as a junior. I don't think he transfers as he knows that with a little patience, he will be a starter.

Which is why I think bringing him in motion from receiver spot would be very valuable. Everyone knows he can run. What if he can hit Burks after 3 or 4 in motion plays throughout the year for a game we need.

Can’t redshirt him again. Might as well use him before we lose him.

Yeah i agree with this. I do think you get him involved with stuff like that. I almost feel like we will work on stuff like that when briles is confident our base offense runs like a machine.

Which is a much better philosophy than our precious regimes feelings on trick plays.

Just mobile enough to make defenses pay dearly if they back off him and accurate enough to really molest folks on the play action.

I'm kind of curious as to how "peak" Matt Jones would do with his crazy speed and vaguely decent passing.

I don't think Matt Jones was ever disciplined enough to make any improvements. He had problems with Del Rio as he didn't take practice seriously. He didn't put in the work and Nutt didn't hold him accountable for anything and that carried over to the NFL.

If Malik slows his brain and heart rate down he’ll be an absolute force.

He’s a fast mover, but the game is still moving faster.

Can’t say that, I said him in the slot or coming across in motion for a throw or to get an edge would be our Percy Harvin.

Well it looks like our coaching staff reads message boards gossip, because Malik getting work at receiver in spring camp.

We aren't a gathering of the greatest college football minds but we pay enough attention to see how things are going. Hornsby is sort of stuck in a "hybrid" role at the moment. He isn't good enough to replace KJ but his speed is too good to not have on the field as often as possible. If he can light some teams up at WR and make everyone dread our WR pass plays (we all know that Briles is not going to stop calling those) then so much the better.

Speak for yourself, Sulli.

Glad he’s staying and trying something new.

I was telling a guy at work a couple months ago that they have to find a way to get the ball in Hornsby's hands in space. That if I'm Pittman I am putting him in at WR even if just as a decoy to eat up the other team's fastest CB and Safety. Just the threat of him running down field is enough to give defenses fits.

2009 and 2011

I excluded 2010 simply because our fan base did its typical prisoner of the moment dipshittery after the Auburn game and you suddenly heard growing calls for Tyler Wilson to start so we could “get ready for next year” since at that point we were 4-2.
