Luke Fickel, Justin Fuente, and Gus rumblings

Fickel is obviously the head coach at Cincinnati and has been mentioned here some by others. Obviously not a lot of experience in this neck of the woods. Fuente makes sense because he's from near here (Tulsa) and also coached at Memphis. How good is his situation at VT? There was some hotseat discussion for him heading into this season and in the early part of the year, but they have turned things around this season and he is in good shape.
My very best sources on this deal have mostly remained quiet to this point, aside from saying things are still very 'exploratory' over the weekend.

Same search as last time would be very disheartening, so much more data than last time with all but Norvell either wearing out their welcome or squarely on the hot seat in Gus's case.

We aint gonna know shite till it's done. The media and sources will report every one down the line as a candidate. Then HY will make his hire which will be someone who was dismissed already by the media or a left field hire no one considered.

Fickel and Fuente are just really really bizarre and don't make any sense.
Why are we supposedly eying guys like Gus and Fuente that their own fansases want gone, but can't fire beacuse of massive buyouts.
Apparently Irwin is claiming that HY already has his guy picked but doesn't know if he can afford him...whatever that means and he predicted Fickel would be the next coach.
Hey, another Midwest guy with zero sec experience who's 1 year at An elite P5 school won like 6 games... The very same team almost the Urban went like 12-0 with

The knock against Norvell was he didn't build that Fuente did.
So ignore he crashed and burned at VT while Norvell has improved Memphis over the same time period.
I believe the boosters Biddy has talked to has sold him on this line, it sounds just like them.
Irwin truly knows dick about the search, you wanna know about the inner workings of the 1979 season then he's your guy.

No way will it be Gus. HY has sealed his fate if they hire him. Half of Arkansas hates his guts.....how is he going to sell that to the fans?
Of course, this beats the "Butch Jones" talk that I have read on Hogville. If that was truly leaked it has to be a smoke screen to just set the bar low so we wouldnt be pissed about a name like Bill Clark in comparison to Butch Jones.
IMO if we cant get a big name guy, Id rather take a chance on Sam Pittman than on some G5 coach. WE KNOW that Pittman can coach and recruit on OL....obviously has ties to Arkansas....Knows what is needed for an SEC staff...If its a gamble we are going to take might as well play a game we are familiar with.

Well if you believe the 247 Auburn board mods that claim to have inside sources on our search, Yurachek hasn’t received the interest that he thought he would for our job so we’re scrambling down the list to find someone. Who knows what’s true with this search these days.

Just because Jerry was able to get his bff hired doesn't mean Sam Pittman is a better candidate than G5 coaches out there.
Don't let Morris fool you I to thinking there aren't good coaches outside of the P5 schools.

We won't know anything until whatever coach we are hiring is done with his season unless we are hiring an unemployed coach. Even then Hy will likely not announce and let Lunny have his due as interim.
HY is likely talking to everyone and may already have his man. He is killing time and researching

I doubt the back ground checks and vetting have been completed at this time by the search firm for HY to be turned down by the entirety of his list in order to start scrambling.
You gotta love the strategy to put panic in the forefront from "insiders" to be parroted from there to the Arkansas sites and this riling up the panic in social media to create a call for Gus jus to make the nightmare end.
#1 clue to all the chatter being bullshite is it being the exact same lists of names created from a search ran entirely by the boosters. #2 being HYs cander in regards to retreads. #3 how sure Auburns sources are that Arkansas will bail them out of a buyout they can't afford.

Id be fine with Norvell. All the other G5 candidates are complete crap shoot gambles, just like Pittman would be. The difference is we know what Pittman brings to the table as far as OL recruiting and development, and it is good.

Pretty much. There are a lot of boosters with separate opinions. We will hear all of their opinions through sources close to them that leak. We will eat all the news up...Then HY will hire somebody.
