What a game the true freshman had last night. He was matched up against arguably the best WR in college football all game long. Coming in to this game, Amari Cooper's worst game this season was against Ole Miss where he had a 9 catch, 91 yard performance against the best secondary in the SEC. Last night Toliver held him to just 22 yards on 2 catches. As a TRUE FRESHMAN. That's beyond impressive.

This kid is going to be very good for us over the next three years.

He's played well the past few games as has Collins at Safety.

I don't believe many would have thought the LB would be the best of the Fayetteville group a couple years ago either.

Collins and Toliver should make up one of the best CB tandems in the SEC next year. Who could have ever imagined that after the last few years.

It's a shame Brignoni got hurt. I always wanted to see what he could do.

I still can't believe how Toliver got hurt in the A&M game.

Mitchell had a good game as well, he's unfortunately just now reaching his potential, and he had so much as a freshman.

I hope we are talking about Tevin and not Braylon.

Braylon got called for an offsides when he was standing on the LOS on the hip of the DE. How the heck do you not just look down the line and see you are standing even with the OL.

Braylon.

GRRRRRRRR. I get angry just reading his name. I get livid when I see him in the game.

I didn't realize Toliver was covering Cooper the entire game, but I sure noticed that Cooper was non-existent.

Yep. Toliver was on him almost all the time except when they tried to get sneaky and shifted him in to the slot. Then Tevin took over. However, Toliver was routinely matched up with him 1 on 1 on the weak side of the formation.

They replayed it and he was practically in their backfield

I'm definitely an Ellis fan, and I hope his injury on Saturday wasn't anything significant.

He's not a game changer, but he's the type of MLB we need.

I heard a caller on the morning rush, say that it was no big deal covering Amari Cooper. Hes saying its easy to cover 1 guy.

I call bullshite, Toliver deserves a lot of credit for shutting down a heisman trophy caliber receiver.

One of the dumber things ever said by a Hog sports radio caller, and that's saying something.

He played a good game, but I credit shutting down Cooper to the entire defensive line. They were in the backfield early and gave Sims no time whatsoever.

Wow that guy is an idiot. Covering a receiver 1-on-1 is one of the hardest things to do in football. Especially against a guy that is arguably the best in the country.

I mean damn if it was that easy then we would have an entire team of lockdown corners.

Our defense has played well against some high octane offenses this year. I was really impressed with the success the D-line had against Bama.

I was screaming at the TV for Mitchell to get back on-side......he evidently couldn't hear me.

I am hearing a lot of crazy talk in here. While Toliver played a great game, we doubled Cooper all night long with a bracket coverage. Toliver was in press or within 3 yards of los all evening. We always had a safety, mainly Turner, shaded to the inside of Cooper and about 5 yards behind Toliver. Lets not kid ourselves that he is getting a "Toliver Island" moniker yet.

We were able to get pressure with our front four on passing situations, which allows the LB and safety's play a lot more freely. While I think that our defensive back 7 is the most improved on the team, they benefit most from our front 4. Our whole defense benefits from our new DC hire, Robb Smith. I was very impressed with his game plan on shutting down Cooper and stuffing their running game, forcing them into a clusterfrick.

Yep, that's saying a lot about our defensive staff. For now, we only have average players across the board (for the most part) on the D side of the ball. Because the d-line is able to complete their job, Smith & Co. are able to get our secondary into schemes that maximize our potential. I'm VERY pleased. Football is a team sport.
