The honeymoon is over. Left lane hammer down and full tilt boogie got everyone excited at first, but now those cute little catchphrases seem really fricking stupid and there is a cloud of incompetence hovering over the entire football program. Recruiting is shite, we can't seem to make a simple staff announcement, and nobody knows who is actually running the show on the Hill right now.

I'm still in wait and see mode but it seems like we may have made a huge mistake taking a butcher knife to the entire athletic department.

Maybe we should let him, you know, coach a game first before labelling him incompetent

It does not make any sense that they haven't announced a DC hire yet. I hate to agree with Stonehog on this one, but it may be true.

Or even a practice.

It did? I skipped being excited about that- we just got done with a talker, words will not excite me now, gonna need to see some results when the games come around.

I am ready for the dc to be announced, I don't understand the hold up on that at all.

No there isn't.

And invariably is whenever there is a coaching change. Piling on top of this is a brand new, never done before early signing period, of which nobody knows the complete ramifications. This is one aspect where we really have to wait and see. What has happened so far cannot and should not be placed at the feet of our new coach.

This one confuses me some, but I'm sure there are legitimate reasons for the delay. I don't think for a second that Morris or anyone else wants to delay the announcement of our DC one minute more that he has to.

I think it's way too early to determine that. The DC thing is perplexing but I'm not panicking yet.

I’m not a fan of it but the guy has said multiple times that he’s going to announce the entire staff at once. One could probably safely assume he just hasn’t filled all 10 spots yet.

This. We haven’t made any official hires. Idk why everyone is so worried about announcing a DC.

The red flag is guys who have been committed to Arkansas for months deciding to sign early with other schools when they don't have to. They could have waited until February to get to know the new staff. Oh wait, that's right, we have no staff. Apparently meeting Morris convinced some of our recruits to not only decommit, but sign elsewhere immediately. Not a good look.

Do you want more of the same slow, fat shite on the field we've had the past 4 years? They signed on to play for a coach in flip flops and listen to reggae. Doesn't surprise me those kids wouldn't want to play for Red Bull's first test subject. The types of changes we're making effect everything down to the type of player we recruit.

And there have been multiple, very highly rated 2019 recruits that are now considering Arkansas because of the addition of Morris. If they signed up to play for a laid back fat boy like Bret, I'm sure a high energy coach that demands a lot from his players might be a turn off upon meeting him.

Who are you so upset about losing?

Of course they would sign elsewhere early when they had relationship with those other schools and interest throughout our football season. The players have no leverage in the early signing period. Schools looking to flip pressure them if they don’t sign early they won’t have a spot.

Then Morris honored their commitments and did in-home visits with them and they decided to sign with other schools immediately...

That's not a red flag, it's a common everyday occurrence any time you have complete sea-change in philosophy. Less than 2 months ago, we were a Pro-style smash-mouth, big boy football team. We are now an up-tempo, spread 'em out, motion and misdirection team.

We overtly have no defensive staff, but apparently have Chavis waiting in the wings, which undoubtedly was told to recruits. We didn't lose some of our best defensive recruits, and honestly, the new coach may not have been too high on some of the commits we had. Regardless, do you really want kids on the team who aren't sure they want to be here?

Nothing that happened recruiting wise was out of the ordinary. Nothing. If we can't fill classes, or can't land any sought after recruits going forward, we may have a problem. To sound the alarm when a new coach had all of two weeks to pull a recruiting class together is ridiculous.

Cool, frick 'em. That's going to happen. There were also plenty of existing commits that had nothing but glowing things to say about Morris.
