Thought they had been feeding more aggressively on his offerings. Which would make them better and him smaller.

Cat and Slush was a huge loss and changed the game. We’d have won big 2 scores.

Solid win.

Haselwood is way overrated. We have no go to WR right now. KJ really misses Burks.

People forget Burks didn’t turn into Burks until the A&M game last year when he balled out and set the tone for the rest of his season.

He had only had 5 catches for 42 yards against Rice, and didn’t really do shite against Texas (5 for 37).

KJ just looked a bit off today from an accuracy and rhythm perspective, which is weird to say for a guy who competed nearly 70% of his passes and had 3 TDs . He just had bad touch and missed some open gimme throws. I’m not concerned, since he looked a bit off in the Rice game last year.

I need to take a break because I logged on this morning still pissed off about this dumbfrick's thread.

A team makes its' own luck. Cinci missed field goals. Are we going to ignore the 3rd down stop that kept them out of their end zone when they were inside the 10. short field goals from the hashmark are not nearly as automatic as you might think.

Are we ignoring the defense holding to force a 50 yard attempt?

You make your own luck. We had to put ourselves in a position for that good fortune to happen.

Look at it from the other side. We "gifted" Cinci a TD with an unforced fumble at the 3 yard line. Sure, but Cinci wasn't capable of taking advantage of that good fortune. They got 3 instead of 7 that we "gave" them.

We had a lot of guys on both sides of the ball play their asses off and beat a really good, ranked program. The disrespect of some of our "fans" to say that they were given the W, after some of the seasons we've been through recently... it's unbelievable to me.

Well that's a shitty take if I've ever seen one.

He's no Burks, sure. But that TD catch he made was a thing of beauty, and he wasn't targeted much at all today other than that.

We now have the WR depth to make up for the loss of Burks, and Hazelwood is a great piece to make up a lot of that loss. Knox and Thompson are legit receivers too.

WR is one of the last position groups I'm worried about on this team

This right here. Honestly, I think we kept it fairly vanilla on offense. Pulled a few things out of the bag, when needed, but avoided showing all of our cards to this year's remaining opponents. I think there's still a lot that we didn't see.

I am concerned about our secondary, though, if our 1's can't stay healthy.

Some people need to humble themselves. We went from getting blown out by UNT, WKU, etc to beating a ranked team at home. We would’ve KILLED for this 2-3 years ago

You probably do need a break...

Some luck is made. Having three receivers running free for TDs and the QB missing each of them is not self made luck. No coach says "let the receiver run free and maybe we'll get enough pressure to cause an over throw."

Having a phantom holding call go your way on a screen for a TD is not self made luck.

I'll take the victory and hope we improve greatly before we play a good qb. If we don't get healthy and better then we're going to have issues stopping teams.

Ok but coaches do decide when they're willing to take more risks based on how likely a QB is to hurt them

Missed throws happen all the time. You see that from NFL QBs even.

There was holding, it just didn't affect the play. And it wasn't for a TD. And we had a similar holding call against us earlier in the game.

That wasn’t phantom. Saw it live and everyone in the stadium saw it also. The replay they showed wasn’t a good angle.

It was an OL I believe that grabbed our CB(can’t remember who) almost by the collar and spun him. Definitely impacted the play and was the proper call.

My initial thought was, wondering if they’d tack on a horse collar call instead of holding.

The replay they showed on TV didn't look like a hold at all.

It definitely was, which is why I mentioned even the replay they showed in the stadium was a bad angle which I assume is the same that tv showed.

The DB had the blocker beat and our DB was grabbed on back of neck area and it slightly spun him and kept him from making tackle. Correct call.

Yep, as soon as I saw it live I was screaming for the flag. He definitely had a hand full of jersey and looked like he might have had a piece of the pad collar also. Absolutely changed the direction of our DB who had the angle. The replay angle was crap.

Can't think of any reason the Cinci QB was gun-shy about under throwing a receiver.

Not only did we get blown out by those teams... we expected to get blown out by those teams going into the games. We've gone from that to beating a ranked team that made the college playoffs last year. I am quite happy at the change.
