I know it's not realistic, but what are y'all's thoughts on the Big 12?

It would do wonders for our football program imo. Being in the same division as Alabama and LSU is a fricking joke.

Saban/bama can’t maintain this level indefinitely. They had about 15 years of bad coaching in between national titles. They’ll hire another dud at some point. Coach O is only as good as his assistants. I’d actually be surprised if it ends well for him at LSU.

I'm sorry. Going to the Big 12 is just a weak move. We proved with both Petrino and Nutt we can compete with the right coach. Also we'd lose to Kansas this year. Conference is not the problem. The coach is.

Yeah, Petrino and Nutt and not a single conference championship to show for it.

Houston should have won 10+ games 4 times. Petrino led us to back to back 10+ win seasons. We don't need to change conferences. We need a good coach. Look at LSU before Saban. Perennial Mediocrity. They had two 10 win seasons from 1970 to 2000. We can compete. We can dominate.

Would love to make the move, we've never belonged in the SEC and our record proves it.
Money has ruined college football though so we'll be content with winning 3 or 4 games every year as long as we get that SEC check. Even though moving to the Big 12 would breathe new life into the program and revitalize the fans.

Given that the SEC would respond to our departure by raiding the Big 12 we would likely be joining a Big 12 in even worse shape then it is now. If and when the Big 12 goes under, which would not take long, we'd be forced to find shelter in the MWC or Conference USA.
Arkansas would become the second coming of Tulane. All of our sports programs would suffer a grisly death as we spiral into G5 hell.
Other than that its a great idea.

I think we'd still be middle of pack at best. And the schedule would be way worse. 50k size crowds would become the norm. UT, OU, and OSU might have as many fans at Razorback stadium as us.

I’m so damn tired of this stupid fricking argument. We had our best years when the conference was at its highest. The sec was objectively better in 2011 and we finished ranked no.3 in the country. We aren’t sucking all of a sudden after damn near 30 years in the sec because of the conference. We’re sucking because we’ve hired arguably the 2 worst coaches in Arkansas history back to back after having one of the worst interim head coaches of all time. The only thing that would change if we moved to the bug 12 is we’d be getting our shite pushed in by Oklahoma Texas OSU and Baylor every year instead of LSU bama auburn and A&M. Of course we would keep the Aggies on our schedule so they’d still get to kick our arse too

Look at my above post. We did fine in the sec whenever we had a competent head coach. Honestly Saban is gonna be gone long before Lincoln Riley so I’d rather stick in the conference where you’ve only got the guaranteed loss for maybe the next 5-10 years instead of the conference with a guaranteed loss for the next 20.

We are so far out of the public consciousness in football that no one will care. It would be exciting and help with Texas recruiting.
It's also not just about sucking, the move would be better for our fans. Old rivalries and closer road games.
