to make a run in this dance, then you might be disappointed. Next year is when we are supposed to make 'The Run'.

Proud of Mike for making this year into a competitive team

you have never hated being "that" pigfeet...

Anyways,

What has happened with this team was improbable and enjoyable to see.

CMA changed a few things, the players finally bought in, and with Barford/Macon back along with Gafford, etc. We will be a good team next season as well.

Been fun...

I disagree, if they can avoid the 8/9 they can and will make a run.

The 8/9 winner gets the 1 seed next round, which will be Kansas or Villanova.

I'm still not a MA fan, but he has adjusted to some degree and it has shown. It doesn't hurt that this team is coming together as actual team.
I can see making the sweet 16 if the cards fall right. Which would be beyond what most of us expected. Realistically though, 1 and done, unless we somehow manage a 7 seed.

It wouldn't surprise me if this team doesn't make it to the round of 32, OR if they make it to the sweet 16.

I think most everyone would be happy with this team winning two games and making the Sweet 16.

Like with anything though, it is all going to depend on match ups and where we are seeded. As a 7 or 10 seed, we would be set up to win a couple games. As an 8 or 9 seed, we would be set up to win the first round and then face a #1 in the second round, which doesn't really give us much of a chance.

Some bracket like us, some still don't like us. We are anywhere from a 7-10 seed, depending on who you look at.

My hope is the committee gives the SEC a little more respect than national folks do. My hope is also that we are seeded higher than South Carolina since we beat them head to head and our resume is just as good and we finished much stronger. I would rather see South Carolina fall to the 8-9 range and see Arkansas at the 7 spot.

I predict both. We lose our first game but our opponent is eliminated due to some scandal later that night and we are allowed to play in their place. We then win in the second round before being defeated in the sweet 16.

Book it.

I don't care if we make a run or not. As long as we're there

To his credit, and I was not his biggest fan earlier in the season, the losses to Vandy and Mizzou really got Mike to turn the heat up and make some adjustments.

I tip my hat to him, he managed to turn the season around and get the team to buy into what he's trying to do. I give us decent odds of winning the first round game and a chance at reaching the Sweet 16 if we can avoid a 1 seed in the second round.

I've only watched 2nd halves of some of these last games during our win streak and highlights of the full games, but don't remember seeing us using our ineffective press very much.

Why did it take MA being on the precipice of losing his job to get him to adjust to a defensive strategy that has been obvious to knowledgeable fans for quite some time?

That's still as much a head scratcher to me as why so many in the middle class thought Trump would be a good president that would improve their lives, other than their being misinformed and not all that bright to being with obviously.

MA has this team playing at a high level right now, reminds me of some of Nolan's teams.

Arkansas has pressed rarely when on the road and less than under Nolan when at home.

This isn't a new to this year thing, over all his teams have pressed around 25% of the time he's been here. A token pressure press has been used some, the sole purpose of it is to speed the team up and get them into their set at quicker pace causing quicker shots and more possessions during the game. It's basically the opposite of the press Georgetown uses to slow teams down and reduce possessions in a game.

Just because a team is playing full court defense doesn't mean they are trying to press a team into turnovers, the majority of the time this stretching of the defense is solely to try to dictate the tempo of the game.

Define "Run"?

I am hoping for a Sweet 16.

I would be ok with a 2nd round "close" loss.

Would be disappointed with a 1st round loss or 2nd round blowout.

I don't think we're actually pressing as much as people think we are.

The biggest thing defensively is efficiently switching and rotating over to defend open looks. Before, there were a lot of teams that had wide open looks, it's just that they missed a lot of them. That's also why good offensive teams like Florida and Kentucky have been effective against us, since they're better at converting those open looks to points. We're better than we were before at half court defense.

Also, I think the matchup against Florida (assuming we don't lose the first game in the SECT) will determine how we fare in the NCAA tourney. If we can finally get over the hump against Florida, I think we can put up a good game against a 2 seed.
