Former Arkansas head coach Bret Bielema is now an assistant on the Patriots’ staff, his first job in the NFL after a quarter century coaching in college. He doesn’t think he’ll go back.
Bielema says he’s so thoroughly enjoying the all-football focus of working for Bill Belichick that he isn’t eager to return to a college campus.
“The thing I love about football in the NFL is you go to work at 6 a.m. and you leave at 9 [p.m.] and it’s nothing but football,” Bielema told CBS Sports. “It’s just purely football.”
Bielema was head coach at Arkansas for five years and at Wisconsin for seven years. Prior to that he was defensive coordinator at Wisconsin, co-defensive coordinator at Kansas State and linebackers coach at Iowa. The NFL, he has learned, is something else.
“It’s a whole different way to coach [in the NFL],” Bielema said. “I understand once they go to that level, coaches don’t ever go back. One of the most ‘a-ha’ moments was one of the first drills I did during OTAs. I had 11 [defensive] guys go through the drills. ‘Holy cow, these guys are good.’ These are the elite of your elite.”
The Patriots still haven’t announced what Bielema’s title will be, but whatever his job is, he sounds like he wants to keep it for a long time.

(Never been a Pat's fan... but I hope they get routed in every game now)

BTW Bert... Every heard of Steve Spurrier, Nick Saban, Chip Kelly... Well Bert, they left the NFL and were successful in ways you have only been at the Golden Corral. DOuche!

I would hate the arse kissing gotta show me some love aspect of recruiting as well. Not to mention the kids that are attention whores. So I can't blame him for hating it. However, it's a necessary evil if you expect to win in college.

So do we have to keep paying fat Bert now that he has a job? Or will he continue to be a parasite to the state and university?

According to that fricktard Bolin, it doesn't matter whether we have Peter Griffin or Morris, our record for the next two years would be the same.

I'd much rather read Razorback articles written by Triumph the Insult Comic Dog than any of those morons.

Also frick bert. Dude was a terrible in game coach. He said he almost took the Miami job. Could you imagine if that franchise had hired that fat frick???

Of course he isn't going to go back when no one will fricking hire him. Why would anyone leave their NFL positions coaching job for HC at some FCS school. You'd have to be an idiot to see how Wisconsin has fared after Bert and how he did here, and still want to hire him as HC of a real CFB program.

Bert could get another job in CFB if he wanted one. Dooley was able to get another job and his performance at Tennessee was far more of a shite show than Bert's here.

While the coaching circle is a recyclable one, especially on the NFL level, these coaches are not as horrible as many fans believe they are. Reggie Herring has been in the NFL since he was let go here, David Lee? Yep, still in the NFL coaching QBs. (Remember how he was such a down grade over Gus, because muh QBs?)

Wouldn't surprise me if his buddy, Jeff Long, were to hire him at Kansas at some point.
