I get your sarcasm. Isn't it nice to say whatever you want on a message board. That's the first amendment at work.

I understand some of you feel marginalized but be grateful that you live in a country that your voice can be heard.

But I want them fired and don't want their voice heard, can't I just make people do what I like?

What does this have to do with anything?

Aren't universities supposed to encourage free thinking? The ability to make choices based on what you believe and not what is acceptable to others?

I'm not comparing NASCAR the sport and corporate entity to the University, I am comparing the fans of the sports.

Believe it or not there is a ton of crossover between NASCAR fans and fans of SEC universities. I am one of them. Every time I'm at the track there are tons of people with Dale Jr., Kyle Busch, and Kevin Harvick stickers on their trucks right next to logos supporting the University of Alabama, Auburn, Arkansas, Georgia, Ole Miss, LSU, and so on.

And I have seen, first-hand, a man with University of Alabama gear and a flag pole with an American flag flying alongside a Confederate flag, who was standing at attention with his hat in hand for the National Anthem.

To me it's perplexing to see people who juxtapose those positions and see no problem with it. If there had been a black person kneeling during the Anthem or "not respecting the flag" I guarantee that person would have had a problem with it. But he had no problem placing the flag of its nations enemy next to the nation's flag.

This is true but calling for people to get fired because they have a difference of opinion should not be one of them. This isn't China.

It's not unprecedented for folks to get fired for excercising their free speech even when they're off the clock. Especially in this current political climate.

At the same time both Long and Dykes have to support their players. It would effect the entire program negatively if they came out and made a stand, national media would love for a southern school to "infringe" on their students rights.

They have to walk a very narrow line of supporting in public and privately letting the athletes know the results of their actions(loss of donations/etc)

Oh yeah there is nothing else they could say in that scenario once Dykes opened the door for them to do it. That would have been a trainwreck.

For not trying to stop kids from drawing attention to the shootings of unarmed black men? Don't think anyone has been fired for that. That's what they were doing btw. No one is disrespecting the flag or the military. People are litteraly making up a narrative based on their own personal feelings. It's beyond ignorant.

Yet the majority of the protests have been about justified shootings? That's my main issue of the whole BLM movement.

Don't get me wrong I do think there are instances of racism and bad policing that goes against every race, including whites. Its more an issue of poor training and working with what you have. We can all agree that for what they get paid and the type of job it is, police forces aren't attracting the best candidates.

Let's get this thread really derailed.

So I guess no one remembers Chris Jackson protesting the anthem?

And this was for religious beliefs pre-9/11.

He didn't last long in the NBA after that because it is a privilege not a right...

It's really hard to say there's many justified shootings. If you're unarmed you should always be tazed. I could see a certain situation where someone might take an officer by surprise, but it would literally have to be an ambush. I don't see how officers shoot people inside of a civilian's own vehicle, while a suspect is in the process of running away, or refuse to do any form of first aid after they shoot another human being. That's carelessness and a lack of consideration for another person's life. How are they going to possibly harm you if they are unarmed and being tazed man...... even soldiers can't shoot unarmed civilians in war zones.

He didn't get fired (released), he was traded and then plagued by injuries so he left for Europe because he wasn't NBA material anymore. lol it's a privilege to have the freedom to work in any profession get out of here with that nonsense. That's what were talking about here, people expressing their freedoms and other people getting offended because not everyone agrees with compulsory nationalism.

You keep saying unarmed but how does a cop know? Is your position that cops shouldn't fire unless the gun is already pulled and aimed at them(in which case that officer is already shot). Imminent threat isn't as cut and dry if you are in the moment, It takes me maybe a second to pull from my holster and fire.

It's really easy to say after the fact that a cop should have done this or that.

You want to punish Dykes and Long for supporting these girls in exercising their constitutional rights. That's dumb and petty, IMO.

Stfu. Thier kneeling is a lie. Based on lies and bs. White people by % and # are killed by cops more than blacks.

Research shows that cops are far more likely to use deadly force against a white suspect and far more quickly than against a black suspect.

Take your liberal triggered arse somewhere else. Go back to the poliboard to parrot more MSM lies.

So what's a fair wage for a girls basketball coach anyway?

They make less money than indoor track.
